Someone had the full 2006 album release show recorded and it's finally resurfaced. Not gonna lie Ed Butcher was an absolute beast of a vocalist.

Yeah shame he was a prick to be around, apparently
But I remember seeing a show where he gave the mic to a random audience member and they gave an even better growl than he did and he let him do like the whole chorus
I used to sound a lot like him back in the day, the older I get the more harsh vocals fuck up my throat

I find you have to develop harsh vocals over time. And it comes more from the gut than the throat.

I can’t even do them anymore. Sucks man.

Yeah my voice gave out almost completely at around 27 after about a decade of doing vocals in bands. A few years of rest and I can do basic fry stuff again, but nowhere near the intensity or pitch extremities I used to.

I did them wrong in high school and have sounded a lot better when doing them post like age 20. Using your diaphragm is key

Ruined my metal vocals from excessive weed and improper technique as well. Such a shame cuz I thought I had potential!

I guess it's a common decline. There was one point where I could do the vilest gutturals and black sludge shrieks that sounded on par with the craziest shit I was listening to now at 30 I can only do them half baked once in a blood moon when my vocal chords play along and it's painful. I guess I haven't been using a proper technique
I better hurry up and record some stuff before I become a wheezing old man

sometimes u just gotta go back to this era of metalcore
just a fun time. great leads. raw ass vox. some nice hooks. maybe the purest form of metalcore slaughter of the soul worship.
|
| |
Yeah this is closer to melodeath than metalcore
Wild that it's been twice as long since the peak of the metalcore scene as it was between metalcore and old school melodeath scene
I worded that terribly but you get the point
I'm seeing them later in the year which should be cool, not as cool a seeing them in 2006 would've been but better than nothing

what's the lineup for the show? Is Ed back or is it the guy from their 2014 album or what?

Think it's Crafter on vocals

Smgdh "that guy" is Jamie and Jamie is taking up bass duties

Jamie was originally the bassist for the Red Shore, so unsurprising.
He’s also a much more capable vocalist than Crafterchef lol

"not as cool a seeing them in 2006 would've been but better than nothing"
Might be as cool though. I saw all that remains not that long ago do the fall of ideals in full and it was fucking flawless

This bands just fascinating tbh they did a comeback album in 2014 and then did nothing for ages and ages
|
| |
Also the worst most gimmicky 2005 metalcore band name ever for a band that sounds like very heavily gothenburg influenced metalcore
|
| |
What is mean to say is the name doesn't fit. Sounds almost more gothenburg than metalcore
