Salvidian-- I've been seeing a bunch of Skrillex crap these days; magazines, articles, you name it... And now this? D :

In terms of "commercial pop" radio stations, how many plays would the likes of Skrillex get round your way? I only ask, because of all the mainstream radio stations in NZ, I don't think any of them have ever played him (though, it's not like I listen to those station with any kind of regularity). I know EDM is a hot commodity, but I don't think they'd ever dare play something as "heavy" as Skrillex. At most, they would settle for the kind of friendly trancey-house of Swedish House Mafia, or maybe Avicii

I couldn't get through the album. And I didn't mind Bangarang

I live in BC, probably one of the Meccas for brostep, so take that into consideration, but... During the height of his popularity, I would say that Skrillex was at least tied for the lead in terms of number of plays on popular radio stations. You hear that shit as like background music here, played softly in department stores and shopping mall food courts. It's so bizarre to me.

I just find it really weird, but that's based solely on my experiences with the radio stations round my way. I could never imagine hearing that being played on the daily via your average pop radio DJ

Radio in NZ sounds like a dream man. I don't say this to attempt to be *cool* or whatever, but virtually every (non-university/independent) radio station in my neck of the woods is complete garbage. The play SMASH HITS until long after their 15 minutes should have been up and their daily playlists are literally composed of the same couple dozen numbers being played over and over and over. They won't catch on to Skrillex's gradual demise for at least another year. I turned on a popular station last week for some reason and they were playing Bangarang like 2013 never happened.

No, it's almost exactly the same here, plus the obligatory excess of local content. It's just I don't think they would ever go that "heavy" - I don't even know if Skrillex is on any of their playlists. The local bars still blast him though, but yeah, it's mainly just his mix of 'Cinema'

I didn't even know there was one.
I was introduced to him because I got a job at Greenpeace and literally all of my co-workers were Kiwi-at-heart kinda people who listened to that brand of chilled-out goodness all the time. I don't work there anymore and haven't heard Opiuo since I stopped going to their parties. Any good?
