This album was a bit of a disappointment after Doppelganger. The vocal quality took a huge hit as did the song production. Doppelganger was pretty chaotic in it's own right but it was a fun chaos... this just seems random.

i actually really love manipulator.
it's not like doppelganger...true...and thats a good reason for liking it. not that doppelganger was a bad release. but i have a thing for progressing artists who actually try to change things up. i have respect for this.
the album is a new direction for them and it is very solid through and through. thomas erak was exploring different directions he could go in and thus resulted such songs as "quarter past", "caught up" and "oh! the casino".
i wish people would stop thinking of music as so much a business of trying to be perfect and just love it for the face it is created by us humans as a way to express ourselves...

This album is not all that bad. Some songs on here like "Quarter Past" and "Caught Up" piss me off, because instead of sounding like prgression, they sound like laziness. However, songs like "Ex-Creations" kick *** and "A Man. A Plan. A Canal. Panama" is definitely my favourite Fall of Troy song.
And just a random note, "Shhh, If You're Quiet, I'll Show You a Dinosaur" sounds bizarrely to me like Fela Kuti would sound if he played progressive post-hardcore.
Just a thought!

Manipulator has a lot of potential that I think they didn't really utilize that well, y'know?

"A Man. A Plan. A Canal. Panama" is definitely my favourite Fall of Troy song.
I was starting to think I was the only one who thought the closer was the shitz.
Don't get me wrong, Ex-Creations is one hella of a track, But I feel that AMAPACP was the true highlight in this album

Use to be my favourite band, Doppelganger is by far their best and one of my favourite CD's, this went backwards a bit but they were experimenting. Phantom on the Horizons is going to be epic...if they left it similiar to how they were before.

I was a bit wary of this album when I first purchased it.
It's a lot different from anything they've ever done, especially vocally, and I think that's why the album is great.
At first I wasn't too keen on it, but the more I played it, the more I realized, it's not another doppelganger, but it's nearly as good in a league of it's own.
Fall of troy is an experimental band... this album is just that. It goes anywhere from pop-rock (casino), to blues (caught up, quarter past), to stuff you would expect, but in a new light (dark trail, sledgehammer, dinosaur, panama)
Personally, I feel Seattlantis is the weakest song, but it's still not horrible.
Each FOT album is distinct, and if you can't appreciate them for that, why bother listening?

I feel like the last thing many FOT fans want is a more artistic point of view. Shrieking and tapwankery seems to do it.

Too bad "Quarter Past" and "The Dark Trail" are amazing songs.

Too bad that this is Fall of Troy's weakest album.
