This is a great album. But ngl, always had trouble listening to her later stuff bc of 1) how much she's released, 2) it all sounds kinda the same when played in the background, 3) her weird alt-righty undertone.

Tell us more about those undertones.

She's only averaging 1 album every ~2 years, she aint the based god dropping 20 a year or something.

Yeah, I mean, maybe it’s because several of them sound similar enough? I don’t know. But I’ll try to listen through the whole discography soonish, maybe I’ll change my opinion. As for the right wing undertones, I think that was discussed often already, no? Or were you trying to be ironic or smth?

It was an honest request, I haven't seen any discussion about it.

My impression was that Lana represents the ideal of those left wing artsy women in New York who semi ironically are trad and conservative, like those “red scare” women. And my understanding is that this strand has now become openly right wing, not just as a weird aesthetic/ thing. I had a professor who was a bit like that in law school, the compact magazine school of thought. But then again, I haven’t analyzed her lyrics/imagery, nor do I know these environments well — but did a quick google search and a lot of blogs and news articles come up https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/lana-del-rey-capitol-riot-album-controversy-9509734/?ref=stanfordreview.org; https://unherd.com/newsroom/lana-del-rey-laschian-conservative/; https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/why-do-conservative-men-love-lana-del-rey/; https://stanfordreview.org/the-right-wing-straussianism-of-lana-del-rey/amp/

Lana is what would happen if Theo Von were just a girl and I'm shamelessly into it (for her not Theo), but this is not a flattering political climate for such types

Haha I actually read that as homework and came away even more confused. I strongly invite you to do the same.
From another article:
"The madness of Trump, as bad as it was, it really needed to happen. We really needed a reflection of our world’s greatest problem, which is not climate change, but sociopathy and narcissism. Especially in America. It’s going to kill the world. It’s not capitalism, it’s narcissism. I was surprised we didn’t have a live-television psychopath crazy person as a president a long time ago because that’s what we see on TV and that’s what we see on Instagram.”
Seems correct.

Haha, ok, when I get a moment I’ll read up (and listen to all the albums) and try to make my case
