Was obsessed with I Love Her Again for a while but now im fucking stuck on 39 Intro. God damn he rapped his ass off on that one.

I write schemes in my dreams just for the challenge, woke up in ice cold sweats cuz the flows I chose next are like both sets of bowflex

i've somehow managed to listen to this a handful of times. there are some interesting ideas that i've enjoyed revisiting. upon further review disc 29 is just about the best cole has to offer. sounds crazy but to me it's easily his best work to date and is quite enjoyable. disc 39 however is horrendous and much of what i've come to expect/hate about j. cole. the project as a whole is far too long and despite the lofty runtime is not particularly ambitious despite the claims of his rabid fan base. some filler is expected but there is an album's worth of tracks here i'd cut. any rapper good or bad can compile 24 songs and claim they're doing so out of ambition. however, i find true risk taking involves saying and doing something your pears won't. kendrick did the boring double album and the album where he talks to 2pac and a bevy of shitty love songs. this is an adequate at best album by an adequate at best rapper who is famous for one song and who will always live in the shadow of his peers. goodbye mr. cole.
