Vocals are a bit meh, agreed.

I just feel like they don't fit with the music at all lol

They're a bit awkward and the rapping parts are kinda my main problem with this tbh lol.

It’s a bit of a creative redirection for them. I think most of the post-punk elements have been shed for a more noise/hardcore influenced style. They still sound great just for different reasons than they used to.

This was a trip wow. Love how atypical it is, even compared to their previous output. Such an interesting musical journey

I was pretty bored with this. The sax feels too repetitive and becomes annoying at some point, the songs often have a very powerful finale, but everything before that feels lifeless and not creative to me. The lyrics are too preachy and on the nose. I guess this just wasn't for me.

god i honestly couldn't stand this, there is absolutely zero subtlety in the delivery of anything and it becomes this exhausting and frankly patronising tirade of extremely surface level societal commentary. not for me either.
i absolutely vibe with what this band is saying but the manner in which they do it is just eyeroll inducing to me.
also can the dude stop rolling his r's for goodness sake

Glad I'm not alone, I was somewhat into the music but the vocalist is insanely fucking annoying lol

Just because it’s surface level and lacking nuance doesn’t mean the commentary isn’t correct or patronizing.
The jazz elements of this record really give the record so much backbone it’s incredible.

I actually really dig the vocals, love the accent. also first track is such a banger, damn

oh that's true mongi, that's just how I felt about it. if that's different for you and others that's cool but this just isn't for me lol.

I do agree though his R rolls are irritating. There’s no reason to do that if you’re a white British dude.

I'm on the start of Saoirse at the moment, but this has been one funky ride so far.

Saoirse is a beautiful track, one of the standouts here.

This album is straight up incredible and potentially aoty for me. Its this or Lonely People With Power. And the last 2 minutes of Born to Die is amazing.

Yep, top 5 here also, together with LPWP. The final section of Born to Die is incredible, as well as the last 30 secs of Break the Tension. That makes me piss my pants.

It’s just mind blowing how much more fleshed out and mature they sound on their EPs

Even rap rock gets its chance at redemption now huh

I'm really into the instrumentals here, lots of great crescendos and grooves. But the lyrics... Man they aren't doing this justice, lol. Really pompous and over the top at times, and the terminally extroverted delivery makes it all the more blatant. I'm really bummed by this :/

this is definitely good but i don't really have an urge to revisit it
weaksauce lyrics and the sax is extremely pesky compared to other releases
seeing them live tmrw so maybe i'll appreciate it more afterwards
