They started going downhill with Scream, Aim, Fire. Definitely had the potential to be a good band but everything following that album was generally pretty bad.

emim i'm sorry, there are some bangers on there (esp deluxe edition, i felt road to nowhere solos the entire rest of the album) but half of SAF was forcing the thrash metal thing so hard because matt was like "critics dont think we're metal enough", Fever related more to me emotionally, the poison is classic, this is about on the same level as SAF to me, venom's also equal, then Gravity onwards has been an upward trend to me

No one will ever gaslight me into thinking that Bittersweet Memories isn't a peak somber breakup song and that Gravity is bad because it doesn't have enough "riffs" when forcing heaviness would've been a detriment to the catharsis in the lyrical/vocal department

the lyrical/vocal department on that album is a detriment enough to itself yep
there are a couple of post-Poison bangers I'd go for when the annual mallcore nostalgia binge comes around (Waking the Demon/Begging for Mercy/End of Days), but these guys really did have one of the most brutal first alb peaks in the game
