Or maybe it is utter perfection and I'm being finicky.
It does have Father Pt. 2

Nah, valid criticism.
I haven't really found any faults with the vocals because I think it matches the vibe extremely well, but I get it.
This band is kinda difficult for me to properly critique which...I know, I know I wrote the review but this site has Sowing on staff lol If they drop anything and it sticks the landing, it's pretty much gonna be a five for me. They definitely receive full positive tilt from me.

Ahem. The stupid pirate vocals ARE THE BEST PART OF THIS BAND.
This record takes it a little easier on such vocals, which is a blessing and a curse.

Re: Vocals mix, I think the choices are very intentional. It gives the vocals a ton of dynamics instead of a compressed-to-hell all-instruments-come-second-to-vocals feeling. Sister captures this well, there are moments that are densely layered and quieter, almost playing a more textural role for the larger polyphonic feeling, and then there's moments where the vocals are >very< up front.
Kurt Ballou mixes vocals low all the time and it sounds sick. Doesn't have to be your thing, but it doesn't make it a problem. And I don't think the vocals on this record ever reach Ballou-level buried.
All of which is to say I think the mixing is great.
