Still taking it all in, but on first listen this (not insignificantly) exceeds the quality of their debut as far as a I can remember (a record I am now inclined to give another shot): incredibly tight performances, massive ever-shifting, structurally dense (fairly angular) compositions, really dig. The quieter parts and transient intermezzos might not be perfectly executed. Might have liked it even more if it was less thrashy and more deathy (and even denser/angular/abrasive).

Ayyy the lyrics are finally up, bout to give this a rip reading along. They seem really absurd/fun, band definitely seems to have a sense of humor, the video for Hexagonal Eyes is also a really funny/on point homage to 90s DM, worth watching.

"Analogue silhouettes sag upon burnt emerald landscapes

Comm-chatter mistaken for ghostly beckons

Tethered craft soars in retro-helium propulsion, before liquefaction…"

lmao lfg

Me: Can't wait to check the lyrics and see what's going on in this story here

Superfluously and tetraorganically tethered to a hard 5 on this one, me thinks.

Listening to this again and it's like taking a huge bite of a flourless chocolate torte: I know it's delicious but man, it so ridiculously dense and difficult to swallow.

I can't say in good faith that I'll be able to give this a proper rating after only two spins.

Will do! I can tell it'll just keep getting better; even this second round already sounds way more favorable than the first

I majored in Quinquagenarian studies so this is all pretty boiler plate for me

after (nearly) four full spins and a couple of abandonments (circumstances), I can conclude this is very well constructed. Loads of cool little segments and reasonably well-paced considering. They’ve managed to achieve incorporating some elegant lil slow jazzy jams in to help break things up, so it's not just tech and / or thrash riff salad. Pretty darn good. 78 mins is still wholly unreasonable of the buggers (lol) and I'm planning on breaking this down in future (the track-listing is practically begging for a 2/3 split as each side would then be 40 mins ish).

this is literally #1 for 2026 on RYM which is kinda awesome. Good to see this taking off and people enjoying it. I was hoping to wax lyrical a little more like a massive 'homer' but I'm not (quite) there yet.

Agree on your assessment of this record. Runtime drags (found the extended interludes especially redundant though I understand the need for breathing space). Still stand by my, perhaps admittedly idiosyncratic view, that I would have liked this even more if it was even denser and more angular (and, indeed, more death-metal influenced).

denser, more angular and a greater focus on dm also sounds likely to be in wheelhouse, yet by that point I may be in danger of wishing for something else entirely.

I’m trying to meet this on its own terms and I appreciate what they’re going for (mostly). I can certainly see why people have been lapping this up.

Yes, I suppose you are right. I think that, generally, I find myself less attracted to the kind of more thrash-influenced progressive/technical extreme metal music (even if I do like some of it, e.g. Vektor) than its more deathly, even blackened, counterparts. Even still, for what they are trying to do here the execution is more than admirable.
