I think it's the sheer amount of energy present that makes this album so enjoyable. While other bands rely on chugging guitar riffs and breakdown after breakdown, 'Truest Of Colours' keeps the pace flowing, mixing A Day To Remember styled pop punk / hardcore, with danceable techno synths and the most positive lyrical content I've seen in a post hardcore band for a long time, singing songs of love instead of those of heartache. They've also stepped up the level of technicality from the EP, aided by the larger than life, but very unique production. The songs vary from post hardcore epics such as 'Sea Of Smiles' and 'Daylight Through The Nightlife' to melodic pop punk driven tracks, such as the playful 'Heartquake' and 'To All Aspiring'.

I know that they're part of their sound, but honestly this record would be fine without the synths. Actually, it would make the record better. The vocals and overall instrumentation are good enough to stand on its own in my opinion. Hopefully as the band begins to grow, they will realize this and put less of an emphasis on them.

Isn't as bad as Bloc likes to think. This band has some great moments and I thought the overall production was sort of fitting for what the band was going for. If you want over-polished, over-produced, post-hardcore, go listen to Attack Attack! homo. And this band doesn't overuse breakdowns either, which is always a plus. And the vocals are great. But the synths definitely bring the score for this down a good .5 or so.

The combination of metal and synths is probably more than enough information to tell you that Sienna Skies is nothing more than your average metalcore band. And of course, the riffs and choruses are as stale as ever. However, Truest of Colours loses its points in production and overall sound. In this case, everything just sounds wrong. The synths sound extremely cheap, as if the band used some freeware program on a PC to create the various synth pads and lines that consume the album. The guitars are just as worse, also sounding like they've been recorded through 5 watt practise amps.
