It's my second review of a Darkane Record but do not think I'm owned. I Think Darkane is an unknown band that deserve to be recognized. I Started With The last one Layers Of Lies Which is the first I've listen to. Now, let's do the review of Expending Senses realed 3 years before Layers Of Lies.

1-Innocence Gone

Great Opener, one of the best song of the record. Amazing riffing as usual. The verses are pretty heavey. THe main riff is so nice that he will be stuck in your head. The Chorus is good but it's not the strongest part of the song. Another amazing breakdown after the second chorus Then Mamlström comes in with a nice solo with a meshuggah rythm vibe behing at the beggining. Strong drumming as usual.
4,5/5

2-Solitary Confinement

Weird song!! I think that's why I like it. I think they take a more death metal approach on this record and this song is the best exemple. Insane double bass, growling vocal, etc. I love the verse riff. The regular vocals come back in the chorus. Again another cool solo but faster then Innocence gone. The song ends in a weird synth part. The song end with a long scream by Pretty cool song
4/5

3-Fatal Impact

The intro is in your face. Start with a drum fills then thrashing. The chorus of the song is the strong part. Heavy chords, with keyboard in backround. I love the screaming behind the lead vocal in the chorus too. It makes another effect. The solo is very nice, cool shredding parts. I love the screaming vocal ending. One of the best song of the record.

4,5/5

4-Imaginary Entity

Stats with weird noises. Great riffs!!!Insane Double bass again. A nice thrash song. The Guitar work is thight as usual. It's pretty interesting to notice the weird sound during the triplets riff. The Blast beat is played for the first time on the record. Shredding solo!!I love it. Darkane is probably one the most talented band guitarwise. Pretty heavy riff right after the solo. Weird Vocals on the triplets riff. Blast beat again! Then the mighty riff comes back. The chorus is pretty short. One of the most interesting song of the record.
5/5

5-Violence from Within

One of the fastest song of the record. Starts with a insane death metal riff. Blast beat another time! THis song is much of a death metal song. Pretty intense at 2:08. Solos again. Good as usual.Nice outro harmony. Then a new dimension of darkane comes in with acoustic guitar. Nice work of Klas Ideberg.
4/5

6-The Fear of One´s Self

The Intro makes me say: WOAH!! Insane drumming. Then one of those riff that destroys your brain. Remind me of Dark Tranquillity's Final Resistance verses riff. Nice vocal during the chorus, pretty interesting. Wah Solo for the first time. Pretty nice, they should had it more. Blast beating again, intense. Then the song end with a long scream by andreas. Short Song but really nice.

7-Chaos Vs Order

The best song of the record. Featuring Lawrence Mackrury on vocals. The song start with an heavy palm muted riff. Really slow but really heavy. Then the kind of riff that I like a lot. The Kind of riff that come out of nowhere. Then the intro riff again with keyboard in background. Really nice. Then the verse begins with a cool riff. I love the vocal exchange from Andreas To Lawrence. This one of the strong part of the song. A more slower tempo song. This song sticks out of the others because of that. I Love this chorus. Great the lyrics. ''Look Towards The Future but not so far that you cannot see today''. I love the guitars in this chorus, pretty intense and the chords are well chosen. The Best guitar solo done by Malmstöm on this record. WOw!!! Then the outro is the same as the intro. Amazing Song!!!!
5/5

8-Parasites of the Unexplained

Pretty fast song. Insane riffing. One of the best of the record. I love the chorus riff!!!!A shredding solo is played after the first chorus pretty cool. Then another after the second chorus. Another amazing solo by Malmström. ANother Triplet riff after the solo. Wonderful song.

4,5/5

9-Submission

The last Song of the chorus

Stars with strange percussion sound. Then you can see that this is the closing song. Great Vibe, starts with a cool intro solo. Nice riff again. Really nice chorus. I think this is the strongest part of the song. A faster part comes after the first chorus. It's weird cause this song has kind of two choruses. Stong closing song.
4/5

Global Score 4/5

I'm more conservative in this review then the one I did for Layers Of lies. I give a good 4 on 5. You should take a look a darkane

Line-up:
Christofer Malmström - guitars
Peter Wildoer - drums
Jörgen Löfberg - bass
Klas Ideberg - guitars
Andreas Sydow - vocals

I just discovered this CD in my iTunes after having it forced on me. I ignored it for about 6 months. I'm glad I went back. 'Solitary Confinement' is amazing.

I’m super annoyed neither this, “Insanity†nor “Rusted Angel†are on Spotify, because these records still fuckin’ rip.

@Lichtbringer - Agreed! All they have on Spotify is their live album. Expanding Senses and Rusted Angel are arguably Darkane's finest works too.
