Review Summary: It’s impossible to describe better the idea of Zakk Wyld in this EP: “Glorious Christmas Songs That Will Make Your Black Label Heart Feel Good”

Black Label Society are one of the best heavy metal’s bands actually, almost all the albums released by the band are amazing. Zakk Wyld, the frontman, is a incredible musician: good singer, excellent guitar player and the most important: Zakk Wyld always has incredible ideas. One of the ideas sounded so simple and different but so interesting: Zakk decided to create a Christmas album (EP). The EP was released by iTunes and named “Glorious Christmas Songs That Will Make Your Black Label Heart Feel Good”.

There are three instrumental songs in the EP, and all of the songs were able to transmit the spirit of Christmas. The songs are very similar and seems together just one song, because the stronger and most visible sound in all the tracks are the melodic guitar, maybe this is the only problem in the “Glorious Christmas”, you can see very clearly the job of Zakk Wyld in the album but not the job of the rest of the band.

The EP begins with “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, a popular Christmas’s song that Zakk plays with a lot of guitar solos, and with the great “Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem”. The tracks sounds a fusion of heavy metal’s influences - because of the distortion of the guitar -, blues influences - because of the kind of solos that Zakk does – and the melodic sound of Christmas songs resulting in great tracks.

The album finishs with “It’s A Wonderful World”, it’s incredible when you see that the same band that transmit so furious in some heavy metal’s songs can transmit so much peace in tracks like that. Zakk Wyld don’t care so much to made solos in this track, he cares only with the melody of the song and because of this, the song are amazing and the best choice of the three tracks to finish the EP, reflecting the beautiful and simple spirit of Christmas.
