Predictable and boring, PT have clearly overworked themselves here. Did you think the 20 minute epic was going to be amazing? Well, prepare to be dissapointed. The best songs here are often under 4 minutes, which is a shame, because the longer songs show potential if not for their repetitiveness. |
Tom Waits Swordfishtrombones | 4.5 |
Megadeth Endgame | 4.5 |
A surprisingly spectacular effort from Mustaine and co., Endgame delivers in almost every way and brings out the best aspects of the band. This is quite possibly Deth's greatest work since Countdown To Extinction, and shows the band simply doing what they do best; rocking the fuck out. |
White Zombie Supersexy Swingin' Sounds | 2.0 |
Cover is sexy, yet album is not. The music is boring, and the lyrics are clicheed and borderline stupid. Rob Zombie is a decent vocalist, but still cannot save this monotonous snoozefest. |

Kings of Leon Only By The Night | 2.5 |
Radiohead Amnesiac | 3.0 |
Following the combined brilliance of The Bends, Ok Computer, and Kid A, Amnesiac comes as quite a dissapointment. Combining elements of all three prior albums (not Pablo Honey, which noone likes) probably sounded like a brilliant idea at the time, but in the end the album comes off as being bloated and boring. Sure, Knives Out and Pyramid Song radiate of the classic Radiohead bleakness, but it is not worth deciphering and listening to the boring, pointless tracks in order to get the more decent ones. |

Out of all of the Slayer albums, this is the most mainstream that I have heard. Some of the songs seem to be tailored just for radio play. Although this is not a bad thing, as shown on 'Bloodline', the formula eventually begins to wear thin. The instruments, as usual are excellent with some great drumming on 'War Zone'. The singing has become slower and more melodic, which suits the slower style of the music. |

Although passing through a phase of drug addiction and personal issues, Reed still manages to grab this live performance and put on a great show. Although his voice is not the strongest, the lyrics to his songs and some great instrumentation really make the album work. Some of the songs, unfortunately, seem to drag on for too long, and those not familiar with Lou's prior work may not enjoy this. |

An excellent example of progressive metal, the only major issue that I had when listening to this album is that some of the shorter songs seem uneccesary and boring when compared to the 10 minute plus epics. The shorter songs seem to drag on longer than their epic counterparts, which takes away from much of the album. The instrumentation is nothing short of amazing however, with some spectacular solos from all instruments. The vocals, for the most part, are very good, although they can sometimes grow repetitive and unexciting. All in all, this is a fairly good album that really shines on instrumental sections. |

Although a return to the Pink Floyd of old, and a large step up from Momentary Lapse of Reason, the album just seems like it is full of rehashes of all past Pink Floyd tunes. David Gilmour is still a great vocalist and guitar player, but his music can start to grow very boring very quickly. Very few songs stand out, and aside from the classic 'High Hopes' and the gorgeous instrumental 'Marooned', there is very little new or interesting material here. |
