A wonderful collection of pop songs written and performed entirely by Cardiacs front man Tim Smith. Less zany and breakneck than a Cardiacs album, but all of Tim's trademark creativity and energy is still here in buckets. The beautiful melodies and dense, addictive chord progressions are born of a unique mind, and give me hope that one day we will have another songwriter/composer who can deliver so many ideas and emotions in such a tight, compelling package. |

Truly "average" at best. A catchy but hugely pretentious album whose watered-down pop/arena rock sound has been manufactured for one purpose: Singles, singles, singles. Still, not quite as dismal as MtM. |

The new album is, quite honestly, a bit disappointing. Basically it sounds like Sagas part 2 minus anything new. Needless to say it's still a thoroughly enjoyable album with plenty of frantic instrumental passages, though it feels a bit vapid at times, with fewer quiet moments than Sagas. Overall a decent release, but Equilibrium set the bar too high with their last album. I just hope this doesn't mean they're stuck in a rut. |

Having lived in Germany for some time, I have had the opportunity to experience a plethora of European bands, and I must say, this attempt at an international release is one of the most horrendous atrocities I have ever had the misfortune to hear. Their alleged army of ghost writers and producers have done an even poorer job adapting and translating the songs into English than the talentless 3 boys (and girl) have done performing them (which is saying something). All in all, this "album" is a laughable adolescent farce from start to finish, focusing on today's unhealthy modern ideals of borderline androgeny and glamour rather than anything remotely musical. And to think they come from the same country as Equilibrium... |

Being a Sum 41 fan from the very beginning, I awaited their new album with great anticipation. I had actually heard
Underclass Hero and March Of The Dogs weeks before the album was released and loved them, which raised my
expectations even further. When I finallly went and bought the album and listened to it, I was slightly disappointed. I
got the faint feeling that I'd heard similar stuff somewhere before. After listening to it a couple more times, I decided
that the similarity to previous tracks was unimportant, and that ultimately, this is a pretty decent pop-punk album
that doesn't try to be anything more than it is. Highlights include the singles Underclass Hero and Walking Disaster,
but Count Your Last Blessings, Speak Of The Devil and King of Condratiction are also excellent tracks, delivering
exactly what people have come to love about Sum 41. I think Chuck and All Killer No Filler are both slightly better,
but this is still a more-than-welcome addition to their repetoire of pop-punk. |

Sum 41 are the greatest! I know lots of people automatically connect the pop-punk genre with the antics of Good Charlotte and co, but to compare this album to them is just wrong! This energetic, action-packed album simply spits in your face and walks off defiantly, which is not a bad thing! It is longer than "Half Hour Of Power", the Sums' debut offering, and not as repetitive as the newer "Does This Looks Infected?". Highlights include the singles Fat Lip, Motivation and In Too Deep, but Handle This and the fantastic Pain For Pleasure are also great. There are a couple of weaker songs like Crazy Amanda Bunkface and Never Wake Up, but the better tracks outweigh them by miles. Oh, excellent intro, too! In short: this album misses the threshold of snotty, defiant pop-punk perfection by less than a millimetre (yes, I'm British). Buy it! |
