Scott Walker Bish Bosch | 5.0 |
Deftones Koi No Yokan | 3.5 |
Kamelot Silverthorn | 3.0 |
Neurosis Honor Found in Decay | 4.5 |
The hate is mislead. If you like Neurosis proper, you'll very much enjoy this. It's what
you'd expect, and how is that bad?? |
Titus Andronicus Local Business | 2.5 |
Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city | 3.5 |
Godspeed You! Black Emperor 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! | 4.0 |
Not too bad, pretty good. Yeh, sounds like GY!BE alright. But the thing is it kind of ends
without feeling finished. Incomplete. But good enough, regardless of the usefulness of those
drone tracks. |
My Dying Bride A Map of All Our Failures | 4.0 |
Wintersun Time I | 3.0 |
Speaking in regards to the topic of Time: I grew up. |
Between the Buried and Me The Parallax II: Future Sequence | 2.0 |
Converge All We Love We Leave Behind | 4.0 |
cool m/ |
Tame Impala Lonerism | 3.0 |
Flying Lotus Until the Quiet Comes | 3.5 |
Pretty good, but COME ON. Be a little individualistic people; the hype is running this thing through limits it doesn't provide. |
The Mountain Goats Transcendental Youth | 4.5 |
John Darnielle, you've done it again! The music is so rich and varied, thanks to the great production and the decision to write as a full band this time around. Right now, I'd say this is their/his best since The Sunset Tree (in terms of being well-rounded all throughout). Too good. |
Death Grips No Love Deep Web | 4.0 |
Enslaved RIITIIR | 4.0 |
DorDeDuh Dar De Duh | 4.0 |
A thoroughly impressive black metal record in 2012? Wot!? But all in deservedness, this is rthe best "metal" album that could ever come out of 2012...so far. Ingenious songwriting, an rengulfing atmosphere , folk instrumentation that is the complete opposite of tacked ron....etc. There is so much I could praise about this boy. It's not one to miss. |
Devin Townsend Project Epicloud | 3.5 |
Honestly, this needs more fart jokes otherwise can't 5 |
Grizzly Bear Shields | 4.5 |
Consistent, Grizzly Bear are not. Like usual, there are the highlights then there is the
drag. Theoretically, these guys blow me away but the songwriting itself does little to
stimulate. 3.5/5
EDIT: oh shit 4.5/5 |
The xx Coexist | 2.5 |
Bob Dylan Tempest | 3.5 |
David Byrne and St. Vincent Love This Giant | 3.5 |
Propagandhi Failed States | 3.0 |
This boy is pretty fun, like a good ol' game of catch on amphetamine. Unfortunately, it's still not the mind-blowing/special experience you were hoping for. |
Jens Lekman I Know What Love Isn't | 3.5 |
Animal Collective Centipede Hz | 4.5 |
This is a serious grower. The key is to give it time. |
Blut Aus Nord 777 - Cosmosophy | 3.0 |
Blut Aus Nord still being dull as shit 60% of the time, now with poorly executed clean vocals. Fuck this trilogy, start doing something sonically stimulating again. |
Mount Eerie Ocean Roar | 3.5 |
Katatonia Dead End Kings | 3.0 |
I was really hoping to like this...but this is like water. It's tasteless, doesn't stick, not very viscous at all (streamlined beyond memorability), and all interesting ideas that do exist are diluted and ineffective. Although, it has its moments and I can still find enjoyment in this aqueous attempt at a significant album. |
The Chariot One Wing | 3.5 |
Fun and enjoyable record but my only two problems lie with the lack of a decent amount of memorability and the fact that this is pretty much one-sided in terms of emotional and musical presentation. But I guess since I'm no hardcore aficionado, I am not one to prefer a one-topping pizza. Although, this is better than most (if not all) hardcore albums that I've heard this year. The best song is First, where they masturbate to Ennio Morricone for a good portion of the song. Speak is kind of cringe-worthy. Tuff guy music/5 |
Ensiferum Unsung Heroes | 2.0 |
"Boring, bland, and uninspired. One can only wonder how this is the same band responsible for songs like Hero in a Dream and Iron." - That was Jari. |
Swans The Seer | 5.0 |
One of the first albums to truly matter in 2012. Nothing else has left such an impact and
nothing else probably will. This album is a delicious bowl of several elements that I simply
adore in music and because of that, this album sits as probably my favourite Swans album to
date and in my top albums of all time. Michael Gira, you crazy sunnavabitch, don't ever slow
down. |
Bloc Party Four | 3.5 |
Korpiklaani Manala | 2.0 |
Every time I'm fresh out of jokes and I need to impress people, I always put on some
Korpiklaani. Seems to do the trick. |
Gaza No Absolutes in Human Suffering | 3.5 |
Nachtmystium Silencing Machine | 3.5 |
The Gaslight Anthem Handwritten | 2.5 |
This album is like gay butter, and I'm a knife that just wants something exciting to cut into. This does not deliver that excitement and leaves me in a state of boredom as I know that every slice I take into that bar of butter will be as gay as the last. |
Purity Ring Shrines | 3.0 |
Passion Pit Gossamer | 4.0 |
This is some really gorgeous pop shit.
Can't bring myself to give it more than 4, but 4 is still a nice thing to have, so stfu
Angelakos don't jump out that window pls im sorry |
Frank Ocean channel ORANGE | 3.0 |

Old Man Gloom NO | 3.5 |
Deathspell Omega Drought | 4.0 |
Ihsahn Eremita | 3.0 |
The Tallest Man on Earth There's No Leaving Now | 3.0 |
Rush Clockwork Angels | 3.0 |
I really enjoyed the shit out of this when it first dropped. I was never a Rush fan, but this impressed me. Originally, I would have had this album sit at ALMOST a 4.5, but as time continued its natural progression along with more follow-up listens to this supposed masterpiece, the thing grew tired and I soon was left with the feeling I get from most generic pieces of modern rock that are hailed as magna opera or modest masterpieces...dry and bored. I will probably admit that it was the hype that sucked me into convincing myself that I initially thought this was worth my top 5 of the year, but oh man, I sure was a silly cunt. I don't even like this band! Still a good/fun album tho, despite its lack of depth or innovation, so it gets a nice and solid 3 (relax, fanboys). It's a shiny modern hard rock record (not prog) that is worth a couple of spins and might be decent for a company picnic or something. |
