Deftones Gore4.0
After the Burial Dig Deep4.0
After the Burial show no signs of slowing down in the wake of Justin Lowe's death on Dig Deep, an album packed with furious 8 string riffs. Collapse and Mire are among the heaviest tracks this band has written to date.

Suicide Silence You Can't Stop Me3.5
Major props to Eddie for holding his own as the bands new frontman. He gives it his all on this album and is a perfect fit for the band. There is no doubt that this is their best album to date. Control is especially brutal as fuck with the Corpsegrinder/Eddie interplay.
Linkin Park The Hunting Party4.0
Its been over a decade since Linkin Park released a record that has had any lasting impact. The Hunting Party feels like the true follow up to Meteora in the sense that it really is a solid rock record and sounds like a natural progression from their original sound. In no way is it perfect, and the flaws in their sound still show, but even with these faults the album succeeds because it shows the side of the band that we all fell in love with in the first place more than any of their past 3 records have. An unexpected surprise indeed.
Beartooth Disgusting4.0
Caleb pulls a Jonathan Davis on the last track, "Sick and Disgusting". The only difference is, the result actually is an emotional and intense track. Disgusting is a fantastic album with lots of energy, and proves that Beartooth are a band with serious potential.
Coldplay Ghost Stories4.5
It turns out being their best since A Rush Of Blood To The Head. The songs all have a stripped back feel that hasn't been felt since their early work, being a welcome aspect following the huge arena rock of Mylo Xyloto. "O" is one of their best album closers ever. Incredible stuff.
Whitechapel Our Endless War3.0
Chevelle La Gárgola4.0
Austrian Death Machine Triple Brutal4.0
I HOPE YOU THAT YOU LEAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR MY FIST. I thought that Double Brutal was alright but this is on par with Total Brutal for best ADM.
Architects Lost Forever // Lost Together3.5
Architects continue to attempt to find their way back to a heavier sound reminiscent of their Ruin and Hollow Crown days, and this album is about as close as they've ever gotten to achieving that. Still though, they don't quite make it back there. Sam's vocals, however, have definitely taken a step up from recent efforts.
I Killed the Prom Queen Beloved4.0
Crosses Crosses4.0
Of Mice and Men Restoring Force3.5
Its not as good or as heavy as The Flood, and Shayley brought something unique to the band that feels missing here. The production on that album was near perfect as well. That being said, Aaron shines the most on this album and there are some really great melodies on a lot of these tracks. Austin isn't up to par with his past performances, but he has his moments, most notably on You Make Me Sick. Overall its solid though, and they made a great move choosing Aaron as their new clean vocalist.

2013
Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP 24.0
Dayshell Dayshell4.0
Korn The Paradigm Shift4.0
A Day To Remember Common Courtesy4.5
It was worth the long wait. Their best album right here.
Scar the Martyr Scar the Martyr3.5
The Devil Wears Prada 8:184.0
Wow, this suprised me. Their best yet, and "Gloom" hits hard.
Modern Life Is War Fever Hunting4.0
Fever Hunting will make you realize just how much you missed Modern Life Is War and why even after being away for so long they continue to still be the kings of melodic hardcore.
Nine Inch Nails Hesitation Marks4.0
I Am Legion I Am Legion4.0
Five Finger Death Punch The Wrong Side of Heaven and The Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 13.5
Chimaira Crown of Phantoms3.5
This album confuses me. Even after a few listens I'm still trying to get a grasp on how I feel about it. The band are clearly giving it their all, and Emil Werstler certainly holds his own replacing Rob Arnold as the bands primary songwriter, but the songs are seriously lacking the hooks and instrumental passages that made their self-titled and Resurrection such great albums. Still though, for having the entire lineup apart from Hunter replaced this is still a solid effort, it just lacks variation and blends together way too often.
Counterparts The Difference Between Hell and Home4.0
Yeah this is extremely good. Glad they went in a more metalcore direction as opposed to the straight hardcore style on Current.
SECRETS Fragile Figures3.5
The band have improved a lot since their debut. New screamer Aaron Melzer is a perfect fit for the band, and Richard Rogers' clean vocals continue to improve and be the true highlight of the album. The whole thing is a lot more enjoyable than The Ascent.
Beartooth Sick3.5
Defeater Letters Home3.5
August Burns Red Rescue & Restore4.0
With a great change in production, improved songwriting and successful experimentation everywhere, Rescue & Restore is the album that Leveler was trying to be, only this time the band accomplished what they set out to do a hell of a lot better. This is among the the best metalcore of 2013 and one of their best outings.
Palms Palms4.0
Mission Sunset is one of the best songs of 2013
Motionless in White Infamous3.5
Love and Death Between Here And Lost3.5
Daft Punk Random Access Memories4.0
The Dillinger Escape Plan One of Us Is the Killer4.0
Rob Zombie Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor3.5
After two horribly disappointing albums, it really is nice to hear Rob Zombie finally return to form on Regeneration Vendor. Praise must once again be given to guitarist John 5, who packs this album full of heavy and infectious riffs. Another ex-Manson member has joined the Zombie fold in the form of drummer Ginger Fish, who proves to be the best drummer for the band yet. The industrial-tinged horror rock vibe that Zombie made himself known for on his early work has finally been brought back to the forefront on this album, which is by far his best solo album in over a decade.
Whitechapel The Somatic Defilement (Remaster)4.0
Stone Sour House of Gold and Bones - Part 24.0
Device Device3.5
Killswitch Engage Disarm the Descent3.5
Bring Me the Horizon Sempiternal4.0
Senses Fail Renacer5.0
If The Fire showed Senses Fail hinting at the aggressive side in their sound, Renacer shows the band
fully embracing it. This album is relentless, with the riffs hitting hard and Buddy's vocal performance being his
most intense and ethereal to date. His screams have never sounded better, and the vocal melodies are very
well placed. The lineup changes have steered the band more in the direction of a hardcore sound, and it
proves to be a welcome change on what just might be the best album of their career.

Deftones Koi No Yokan4.5
All That Remains A War You Cannot Win3.0
A War You Cannot Win sees All That Remains at a crossroads in their sound, and the result is a mixed bag of metalcore songs that don't know if they want to be radio friendly or aggressive. Its a frustrating listen, really, because ...For We Are Many was a step in the right direction.

For the Fallen Dreams Wasted Youth2.5
Verse Bitter Clarity, Uncommon Grace4.0
The hype was all worth it, the return of Verse is signaled by this monster of an album in which you can tell by the emotion of the music that the band have a fire in them again as they tear through every track. Might be AOTY for hardcore.
Periphery Periphery II: This Time It's Personal3.5
They improved their sound so much, and Spencer sounds miles better.
Linkin Park Living Things2.5
While it isn't perfect by any means, Living Things proves that all of their experimentation over the past few years was going somewhere; they have combined the catchy hooks of their previous work with the new experimentation of their recent albums.
The Ghost Inside Get What You Give4.0
The riffs are heavy, the breakdowns are well placed, and the clean vocals are tastefully done. Call me crazy, but while this isn't the best metal record of 2012 by any means its one of my favorites so far. They also have FTFD's former drummer m/
Whitechapel Whitechapel4.0
Senses Fail Follow Your Bliss: The Best of Senses Fail4.0
Celldweller Wish Upon a Blackstar3.5
Architects Daybreaker3.5
Judging by the withered crown on the cover, Daybreaker is clearly meant to be the other side of Hollow Crown's coin, and it certainly plays out that way. The band took the best elements of the sound they presented on The Here and Now and mixed it with some of the heavier tones of previous works and for the most part its a lot more enjoyable than their last release. Some songs here though fall completely flat, and although "Unbeliever" is meant to mirror "Hollow Crown" as an emotional album closer, it doesn't come anywhere close to matching it.
Fear Factory The Industrialist4.5
Fear Factory have crafted one of the best albums in their discography and their most industrial album to date. Fulber was given so much room to flourish this time around, and the programmed drums thankfully don't take away from how brutal the album sounds. Oh, and the riffs are ridiculously heavy.
Six Feet Under Undead3.5
Shadows Fall Fire From the Sky3.5
Shadows Fall have returned, and not much has changed since 2009's Retribution. The melodies and thrash riffs are still present, and the production is fantastic due to Adam D's contributions. Still though, the band is moving further and further into commercial territory with vocalist Brian Fair's prominent usage of clean vocals combined with his signature bark, which might continue to alienate listeners.
Tenacious D Rize of the Fenix4.0
Marilyn Manson Born Villain3.5
Love and Death Chemicals3.5
Storm Corrosion Storm Corrosion4.0
so much better than either of the two new albums these frontmen have put out with their respective bands
Demon Hunter True Defiance4.0
Celldweller Live Upon a Blackstar4.0
Meshuggah Koloss4.5
Cannibal Corpse Torture4.0
Torture proves that Cannibal Corpse can still belt out some awesome death metal despite how far they are into their career. All 5 members are in top form here and Alex Websters basslines are thankfully audible most of the time, which I appreciate because he is extremely talented. The bass solo in "The Strangulation Chair" is awesome.
Departures Green Turns To Red, Then Turns To Gold4.0
Crosses EP II4.0
Lamb of God Resolution4.5
Upon hearing a proper mix of this album I can safely say that this is the best Lamb of God album since Palaces and Ashes. "Straight For The Sun", "Cheated", and "King Me" are just ridiculously good. This is possibly their most diverse and heaviest record to date.
Julien-K We're Here with You4.5
Attack Attack! This Means War3.5
The band have mastered the newfound maturity in their music, now they just need to learn how to add variation to it
SECRETS The Ascent3.0
Although their brand of Post-Hardcore is nothing new, Secrets' debut album The Ascent sees a young band with much potential establish themselves quite well. Some great hooks are spread throughout the record.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo OST4.0
Chevelle Hats Off To The Bull3.5
Korn The Path of Totality3.5
Many will regard this album as a terrible work of music and an abomination, but the fact remains that Korn have been doing the same nu-metal sound since their 1994 debut. Sure, they manipulated it with See You on the Other Side and Untitled, but its grown very tiring to listen to a Korn record these days. With the elements of electronic music thrown into the mix with The Path of Totality the band have made their music interesting to listen to again if anything. Pretty impressive to see them rebounding off of their recent redundant albums with this.
James Durbin Memories of a Beautiful Disaster3.0
As I Lay Dying Decas3.0
Disturbed The Lost Children3.5
Containing many excellent tracks left over from their albums, soundtracks, and various other releases, The Lost Children actually proves to be quite a neat release from Disturbed. Several tracks on here worth checking out.
Lou Reed and Metallica Lulu1.0
Counterparts The Current Will Carry Us3.5
Fear and The Nervous System Fear and The Nervous System4.0
Featuring members of several bands including Korn, Faith No More, and Bad Religion; Fear and The Nervous System's self-titled debut features a strong combination of industrial and hard rock. One of this years most suprising releases.
Coldplay Mylo Xyloto4.5
Five Finger Death Punch American Capitalist2.5
While they haven't branched out much further from their previous effort, War Is The Answer, Five Finger Death Punch have still provided another solid release with American Capitalist, which has some great hooks and excellent riff work.
Wayne Static Pighammer3.5
Evanescence Evanescence3.5
This is better than The Open Door, but its got nothing on Fallen. Nothing Evanescence do ever will.

Never mind all the songs that the band released from the album, this rules. Sounds like they never left.

Suicide Silence The Black Crown3.0
Suicide Silence have started to push their sound into more of a metalcore direction and away from their deathcore roots, but they still arent showing any variation in their music. This is where The Black Crown falls flat; in the fact that every song sounds identical to the one before it. The chugging riffs and breakdowns are still present, but the vocals continue to improve. Mitch Lucker keeps getting better, but the rest of the band arent pushing further like he is.
Limp Bizkit Gold Cobra5.0
This is obviously an instant classic (no joke). Plus, Fred isnt as annoying with his vocals as he used to be,
save for a few tracks. Wes Borland is a boss. Fred might be absolutely terrible in Autotunage, but that main
riff is killer.
In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading3.0
August Burns Red Leveler3.5
They did it. They finally made the album we knew they could make. This is a grower but I enjoy it more than rConstellations already. Carpe Diem is seriously incredible.

Lady Gaga Born This Way3.5
While those who loved how The Fame Monster turned out might not like her new direction, there is no denying that Lady Gaga is stepping out of her comfort zone and evolving her sound with each release. With new experimentation everywhere, Born This Way combines elements from both of her previous works and injects a new energy into her sound. This album shows that Gaga not only takes risks, but is growing more and more as an artist.

Defeater crush any doubts that they couldn't top their debut LP, Travels, with the release of Empty Days & Sleepless Nights. The hardcore tracks bleed with aggression and emotion, and the acoustic tracks are tastefully done. The result is Defeater's most superb work to date and an instantly memorable album.
DevilDriver Beast3.5
Finally combining the technicality of their recent efforts with the dark and sinister vibe of The Fury of Our Maker's Hand, DevilDriver have crafted their best record yet.

Showing a much more metal-influenced sound this time around, the Murderdolls 2nd studio album (their first in 8 years) is much better than their sometimes inconsistent debut. The riffs are heavy, the drumming is precise, and Wednesday 13's vocals are great. Only weaknesses would be the lack of bass and the lyrics.

Korn Korn III: Remember Who You Are3.5
Korn recruit Ross Robinson for the first time since 1996 and create their best album in years. In a career filled with mediocrity, they actually managed to go back to their roots on this one to create an album worth listening to again. Jonathan Davis actually sounds convincing like he did on the first 2 records, the riffs are heavy, Fieldy's bass isnt as annoying, and new drummer Ray Luzier proves to be a worthy replacement to David Silveria behind the kit.

I encourage you to drop everything you might think about We Are The Fallen being an Evanescence copy, for this album destroys everything Evanescence has ever done. Carlies vocals are incredible, and Ben Moody's signature guitar sound and writing skill that was so prominent on the Evansecence debut is ever so present on this release. Tear The World Down shows that We Are The Fallen are a force to reckoned with and have tons of potential.

This is the best FF album since Obsolete. I only gave it one listen so far, but it might be even better than Demaufacture in time. Dino's return sparked a great return to form on this album and they went back to the old sound they had before Archetype and Transgression. Burton sounds as great as ever too. Oh, and Gene Holgan is a monster behind the kit on this. Its awesome.
