These poppy, strange, and brilliant musicians managed to create an album of pure neurotic psychosis! Imagine Neonism era Solefald fronted by a fiesty female vocalist and playing occasional evil circus music. Stolen Babies is much like their fellow The End bands Unexpect and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, only 3x better at songwriting. Every song has powerful oddball instrument dynamics and carry unique, thick atmospheres that personally scared me at first. The frontwoman has a very powerful, scrachy scream but backs it up with an equally powerful, beautiful singing voice. This album will surely leave a mark on all who listen to it with an open mind (or not).Demiricous One (Hellbound)3.0Ruumisvaunut Kuollut4.5The Lust I Seek Ancient [EP]4.0Eluveitie Spirit4.52005 Korn See You on the Other Side3.0System of a Down Hypnotize4.0Vader The Art Of War3.5Job for a Cowboy Doom1.0Mechina The Assembly of Tyrants4.0Slipknot 9.0: Live2.5Demon Hunter The Triptych4.5Leviathan Howl Mockery At The Cross4.5Old Man's Child Vermin4.5Sunn O))) Black One4.0Aiden Nightmare Anatomy1.5Deathspell Omega Kenose4.5Marilyn Manson Lest We Forget2.5Panic! at the Disco A Fever You Can't Sweat Out1.0God Forbid IV: Constitution of Treason3.5Bif Naked Superbeautifulmonster3.5Coheed and Cambria From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness3.5Hypocrisy Virus4.5Children of Bodom Are You Dead Yet?3.0Sigur Ros Takk...3.5Between the Buried and Me Alaska3.5The Absence From Your Grave4.0Scar Symmetry Symmetric in Design4.0Twilight Twilight4.0Opeth Ghost Reveries4.0Scarling. How could an album like this be consider anything below maybe a 3.5? It has great guitar riffs, strong bass lines, great drumming and blast beats, and overall not so bad vocals. The atmosphere of the whole album has a very unique feel aswell. It is in my opinion that anyone who truly dislikes this album has not even heard it, or has and was just unable to accept the fact that this band can actually be worth a damn. Regarding my statement long past about this band being death metal was rather dumb and off, but not entirely true. Is it as good as real melodic death metal? Certainly not, but that doesn’t mean the band is bad in anyway.Lurker Of Chalice Lurker Of Chalice5.0dredg Catch Without Arms4.0As I Lay Dying Shadows Are Security2.5Avenged Sevenfold City of Evil1.01000 Funerals Portrait Of A Dream4.0At the Drive-In This Station Is Non-Operational4.0System of a Down Mezmerize4.0Fall Out Boy From Under the Cork Tree1.0Alcest Le Secret4.0Porcupine Tree Deadwing4.0Emiliana Torrini Fisherman's Woman4.0Mudvayne Lost and Found2.5ISIS Oceanic: Remixes and Reinterpretations3.5Bloodsimple A Cruel World3.0Nile Annihilation of the Wicked4.0Strapping Young Lad Alien3.5Six Feet Under 134.0Kamelot The Black Halo4.0Trivium Ascendancy1.5Soilwork Stabbing the Drama3.5Urfaust Verräterischer, Nichtswürdiger Geist5.0Evoken Antithesis of Light5.0Children of Bodom Trashed, Lost & Strungout2.5Nokturnal Mortum Weltanschauung4.0Tristania Ashes3.5Gojira From Mars to Sirius4.52004 Mortifera (FRA) Vastiia Tenebrd Mortifera4.5Evanescence Anywhere But Home4.0Xasthur/Leviathan Xasthur/Leviathan4.0A Perfect Circle aMOTION4.5A Perfect Circle eMOTIVe2.5Kidcrash New Ruins4.0Behemoth Demigod4.0Behemoth, along with Nile, Bloodbath, and Hate Eternal, are my all time favorite brutal death metal bands. Having started as a mediocre black metal band, Behemoth burst into the death metal scene, leaving a permanent mark on the genre. Demigod is a perfect example of true brutal brutal brutal death. Every song is a nonstop onslaught of vicious riffs with only some melodic breakdowns, and brutal, demonic roars from guitarist/ vocalist Nergal. The only downsides to the album are the vocals in the fact that it is nearly impossible to understand anything Nergal says even to the growl trained ear. Also, the enhanced CD music video for Conquer All came to me as a disappointment because it is bluntly obvious that Nergal is lip sinking (which I hate when it’s done poorly). Aside from those minor issues, Behemoth have an amazing album that is essential to any death metal collection.ISIS Panopticon4.5Six Feet Under Graveyard Classics 22.0Samael Reign Of Light4.0Korn Greatest Hits Vol. 14.0Mnemic The Audio Injected Soul3.5Wintersun Wintersun4.5Jesu Jesu4.5Killswitch Engage Killswitch Engage: Remastered3.5The Haunted rEVOLVEr 1.5Cradle of Filth Nymphetamine4.0Bloodbath Nightmares Made Flesh4.5Lamb of God Ashes of the Wake4.0Converge You Fail Me4.0Shadows Fall The War Within3.5Mastodon Leviathan3.0I don't understand what the big hype about this band is. Sure, they are all great musicians and they make some good music, but they are not that amazing. Some of the songs on this album, such as the two singles, "Seabeast" and "Hearts Alive", but the rest to me sounds rather boring and not very dynamic at all. The guest appearence by Scott Kelly from Neurosis is a big thumbs up. Overall, I'd call this album a great addition to any metal collection, but not a major standout by any means.Leviathan Tentacles of Whorror4.5The Dillinger Escape Plan Miss Machine4.5Probably one of my favorite albums released in 2004, The Dillinger Escape Plan have created a near perfect masterpiece with their new album Miss Machine. Being the most pure definition of the popularly argued sub genre of grind and metalcore, mathcore, that I could find, the album proves that learning math in school can really be beneficial to a musician. With constant and ever changing riffs, time signatures, psychotic screeching, hardly decipherable lyrics, and pure chaos all around, this album is not for the typical listener. The only downside I could find in this album was the lack of variety amongst a lot of the heavy parts and the fact that it is rather short.Meshuggah I1.5Xyxyxma As The Glass Shatters1.0Atreyu The Curse2.0Unearth The Oncoming Storm2.5Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone2.5Dark Tranquillity Exposures: In Retrospect And Denial4.5My Chemical Romance Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge2.5Velvet Revolver Contraband2.5The Spooky Kids Lunchboxes & Choklit Cows2.5Slipknot Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses2.5Killswitch Engage The End of Heartache3.0Katatonia Brave Yester Days4.5Demon Hunter Summer of Darkness4.0Urfaust Geist Ist Teufel4.5In Flames Soundtrack to Your Escape3.0Godsmack The Other Side3.0Hypocrisy The Arrival4.0Orphaned Land Mabool (The Story of the Three Sons...)5.0With this album, every single song streams with perfection as the riffs, bass lines, arabic chants, tribal drums, lyrics (regarding the story of Noah’s Ark), and vocals (both male and female) in both English and Islamic dominate the album. I also consider this the best concept album I have ever heard, along with the best death metal releases of 2004. Even the filler tracks are worth listening too on the album, along with each separate track as they go through the story of Noah and his ark, finally ending with powerful epic track The Storm Still Rages Inside, which is then followed by a calm closer ending one of the best musical experiences I have ever heard.Scarling. The guitar work it beyond amazing, the drumming/ blast beats fit perfectly with the music. The vocals took a bit to grow on to me, cause the idea of power metal with black metal style vocals at first sounded absurd, but actually fit quite well when you get the concept. This band truly is a symbol of near perfection for any fan of power metal, ‘good’ forms of metalcore, certain forms of black metal, and certain forms of melodic death metal.Rob Zombie Past, Present & Future4.0Mnemic Mechanical Spin Phenomena4.0A Perfect Circle Thirteenth Step4.5Limp Bizkit Results May Vary1.5Avenged Sevenfold Waking the Fallen2.0Coal Chamber Giving The Devil His Due2.5Marilyn Manson The Golden Age of Grotesque3.5Trivium Ember to Inferno2.0Nevermore Enemies Of Reality3.5Endo Songs For The Restless3.0As I Lay Dying Frail Words Collapse1.5Saosin Translating the Name4.0Amorphis Far from the Sun3.5Silverstein When Broken Is Easily Fixed1.5Chimaira The Impossibility of Reason4.5Fall Out Boy Take This to Your Grave1.5Opeth Damnation3.0Katatonia Viva Emptiness4.0Godsmack Faceless4.0Dreams Of Dying Stars Stardance4.0This album is beautiful. Packed with 20 minute epics of psychedelic, ambient melodies that can lull a person into a state meloncholy equillibrium... or it can bring upon an atmosphere of devastating pressure and depression. The songs have very drug out feelings that actually do not get old one bit. The only downside to any thing on this CD is the unnessecary static used in Drowning In The Sun. The album is superb in dark melody while still delivering some fast and brutal death metal riffs. Sure they made a dramatic change after Clayman, but that does not mean that they no longer make good music. If you ask me, this album is actually a lot better then some of their previous album due to it's great variety in music and song structure. There are some songs I can understand death-heads to really hate (such as Metaphor and Dawn Of A New Day), but those songs just show In Flames developing a brooder style of music in which makes them always increasingly an amazing band. Immortal, though not the most purest of black metal, deliver some punishing riffs and dark verses in their near perfect masterpiece farewell album. With some outstanding guitar riffs, amazing drum work, and above par vocals, the only downside to the album is the guitar tone, which gets rather repetitive after awhile. I have yet to hear any more of Immortal, but after listening to this album, I am anxious to get another one.ISIS Oceanic5.0Grey Skies Fallen Tomorrow's In Doubt4.5Coheed and Cambria The Second Stage Turbine Blade2.5Arch Enemy Rare and Unreleased2.0Korn Untouchables3.5Kidneythieves Zerospace3.5Hypocrisy Catch 223.5Catch 22 is a departure from Hypocrisy’s normal death metal style and takes on an almost nu-metal outfit. But don’t let that make you sell this album short. Although the lyrics and song structure derive from the nu-metal genre, Hypocrisy still manage to keep their unique sound. The album was originally made for he soul purpose of releasing the band members inner anger. The album has some very catchy tunes, and is more in the lines of Soilwork’s form of melodic death metal then the dark, symphonic, and black metalish music style that Hypocrisy originally established a name for with their s/t classic 6th album.2001 maudlin of the Well Leaving Your Body Map4.0Mushroomhead XX4.0Limp Bizkit New Old Songs1.0Until Death Overtakes Me Symphony II: Absence Of Life4.0This album is DARK. Set aside the fact that a lot of it is droneing death doom ambience, the album has a very dynamic and captivating feature to it, it's very moody and depressing as hell. The only downside is the song In The Mist, which is literally 16 minutes of white noise with some strange sampling. The true stand out on this album is This Dark Day, which opens us into Until Death Overtakes Me's dark world.Windir 11844.5Summoning Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame5.0Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Grand Opening and Closing4.0Solefald Pills Against The Ageless Ills4.5System of a Down Toxicity4.5Converge Jane Doe4.5Slipknot Iowa2.5Chimaira Pass Out of Existence3.0Neurosis A Sun That Never Sets3.5Avenged Sevenfold Sounding the Seventh Trumpet1.5Sigh Imaginary Sonicscape5.0Mudvayne The Beginning of All Things to End1.5maudlin of the Well Bath4.5Until Death Overtakes Me Symphony I: Deep Dark Red3.5Tool Lateralus4.5God Forbid Determination2.5Arch Enemy Wages of Sin4.5Opeth Blackwater Park5.0Soilwork A Predator's Portrait4.0Evoken Quietus4.5Lacuna Coil Unleashed Memories4.0Basilisk Blackened Royalty4.0Katatonia Last Fair Deal Gone Down4.52000 Marilyn Manson Holy Wood4.5Cradle of Filth Midian4.5Godspeed You! With music and vocals that shine in influences of symphonic black metal, thrash, and brutal death metal, the album can easily be listened too by anyone who can stand harsh vocals and is highly recommended for fans of Soilwork, (old) Dimmu Borgir, (Clayman days) In Flames, Bloodbath, Opeth, and Dark Tranquility. Another thing to note about the band is their extremely controversial lyrics. Hypocrisy are definitely original in both their music and lyrical content, and have yet to release an album that hasn’t displeased me in the least.1998 The Haunted The Haunted3.5Marilyn Manson Mechanical Animals4.0Godsmack Godsmack2.5Korn Follow the Leader4.5Opeth My Arms, Your Hearse3.5I Shalt Become Wanderings3.5System of a Down System of a Down2.5Cradle of Filth Cruelty and the Beast4.5Nile Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka4.5Lacuna Coil Lacuna Coil4.0Botch American Nervoso4.0Nokturnal Mortum To the Gates of Blasphemous Fire4.01997 In Flames Whoracle5.0Vader Black to the Blind3.5Jack Off Jill Sexless Demons and Scars4.0Godspeed You!
