Lou Reed and Metallica Lulu1.0
It's times like this where I really wish I could rate this less than a 1. This has to be one of the all-time worst albums in existence on every single aspect. This album only has ONE thing going for it: it is unintentionally hilarious to hear James Hetfield sing "I am the table!" and to hear Lou Reed claim that he is "just a small town girl." Listen to this album for a good laugh, but if you want quality music, I suggest you stay as far away from Lulu as humanly possible.

Five Finger Death Punch American Capitalist2.5
Warbringer Worlds Torn Asunder4.0
While it won't please anyone who isn't a fan of 21st Century thash, "Worlds Torn Asunder" is still a solid, powerful album made by people who are truly passionate about playing thrash metal.
Machine Head Unto the Locust2.5
The album has a few standout tracks, but little else to offer. The songs are usually quite long (6-8 minutes in length). This sometimes works in the band's favor, as songs like "Darkness Within" and "Locust" have enough variety throughout to support their overlong length. However, most of the songs end up being incredibly boring, as they do little with the 8 minutes they are given. In short, "Unto the Locust" is interesting and is still a worthwhile listen, but is far from being great.

Megadeth Endgame3.5
Arguably the best Megadeth album since Rust in Peace. From the opening of "Dialectic Chaos" to the last notes of "The Right to Go Insane," this album simply works. Despite a notable loss of Marty Friedman and Nick Menza, the guitar solos are just as genius as ever and the drumming is powerful and aggressive. I'd recommend this to any Megadeth fan.

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corner of Our 4.5
He Has Left Us Alone is sheer sadness mixed with unrelenting intensity. Each track
intensifies as they progress, yet always retain a hint of melancholy and never lose their
ambient identity. Every emotion this album incites is beautiful. The album's 45-minute
length flies by at unfathomable speeds but still leaves the listener satisfied with the
experience. It may not be quite as effective as some Godspeed You! Black Emperor
releases, but both artists are different and this comparison is just unfair. Despite all
I have said, He Has Left Us Alone still has a certain unique charm to it that I can't
quite put my finger on.

Not every song is memorable, but Guerrilla Radio, Calm Like a Bomb, Testify, and Sleep Now In the Fire are some of the all-time greatest Rage songs known to man. The fact that they weren't over-the-top with their political messages on most songs on The Battle of Los Angeles is actually a plus for this album. It shows that Rage doesn't need to have political and social commentary in all of their songs to release solid albums.

Meat Loaf Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell2.5
The songs are far too long and overblown. Also some of these songs, in all there 12-minute long glory, have lyrics which make absolutely no sense.

Honestly this deserves a 5 soley because of the music video for "Whatzupwitu." In fact, it deserves a 6.

Carcass Heartwork4.0
Among the first melodic death metal releases ever, "Heartwork" is nothing but killer track after killer track. The guitar solos and aggressive drumming are nothing short of perfection.

Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine4.5
Rage Against the Machine is one of the few great political bands out there. Despite the fact that all of the songs on this album has mild to over-the-top political and social commentary on it, Rage manages to deliver top-notch music and the greatest rap metal album known to man.
Megadeth Countdown to Extinction3.5
"Symphony of Destruction," "Sweating Bullets," and "Foreclosure of a Dream" are Megadeth classics. The rest of the album, however, falls into radio-friendly rock territory and is, for the most part, not on par with what Megadeth has done before.
Faith No More Angel Dust4.5
Type O Negative The Origin of the Feces3.5
Mercyful Fate Return of the Vampire3.0
Burzum Burzum4.0

The guitar solos on this album range from good to unbelievable, especially the track "Dead Skin Mask." Apart rfrom that, Slayer steps up their lyrics and their songwriting while never losing their sense of Thrash

Slayer South of Heaven4.0
Iron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh Son4.5
The story is cohesive and all of the songs are superb. What more can you ask for from a concept album?
Megadeth So Far, So Good... So What!3.0
There are some great songs on here. Unfortunately, there are a lot of average songs, too. "Into the Lungs of Hell," "Set the World Afire" and the fan-favorite "In My Darkest Hour" are all fantastic songs worthy of the highest praise.

The most disturbing album I've ever listened to all the way through. "Sweat Loaf" and "Kuntz" are absolutely hilarious, while "Graveyard" is extremely disturbing. Worth checking out for anyone who wants to subject their ears to weird shit for 50 minutes.

1984
Butthole Surfers Psychic... Powerless... Another Man's Sac3.0
Mercyful Fate Don't Break the Oath5.0
Iron Maiden Powerslave4.5
Maiden's best. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and "Aces High" are two of Iron Maiden's very best songs, while every other song on the album is solid.
Slayer Haunting the Chapel3.5
Not one of Slayer's more inspired efforts, but still a solid album with some very memorable songs.
Metallica Ride the Lightning4.5
Skinny Puppy Remission4.0
Metal Church Metal Church4.5
Right from the opening distorted vocals on "Beyond the Black," one can tell that this album is going to be brilliant. And it is; while it is not a perfect album, it is still a classic and a mandatory listen for ANY metalhead.

1983
Slayer Show No Mercy3.5
An underrated thrash album for sure. Despite horrid production and some pretty weak lyrics, the genius of
Slayer still shines through on songs like "Black Magic" and "Die By the Sword."
Mercyful Fate Melissa4.5
While not as good as their sophomore album, Mellissa still has a ton to offer listeners. "Evil" is rprobably Mercyful Fate's best song ever written.
Metallica Kill 'Em All4.0
So many excellent songs on here without a single bad one. "Seek and Destroy," "The Four Horsemen," "Hit the Lights," and "Motorbreath" are undeniable classics of the thrash metal genre.
Butthole Surfers Butthole Surfers3.5
Pantera Metal Magic1.0
Iron Maiden Piece of Mind3.5
Anvil Forged in Fire3.5

1982
Mercyful Fate Mercyful Fate4.5
Metallica No Life 'til Leather3.0
It's raw. It's nasty. And it's the thrashiest thing Metallica have ever produced in their career.
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast4.0
A slightly overrated classic. Don't get me wrong, this is a great album. However, Iron Maiden has shown that they can be far better than this on future records, like Powerslave or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. "Run to the Hills" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name" are classic Maiden tunes, while "Number of the Beast" may be the greatest Maiden song ever written.

1981
Venom Welcome to Hell3.5

1980
The Residents Commercial Album4.0
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell4.0
An all-around classic. Dio's voice suits Sabbath in a way Ozzy's voice just never could. Although it is, no doubt, flawed, Heaven and Hell remains one of the defining NWOBHM albums to this day.
Iron Maiden Iron Maiden4.0
Paul Di'anno is an inferior vocalist to Bruce Dickinson, but his voice still suits this album just fine. There are some solid songs on here, despite lacking the crystal-clear production that future Iron Maiden albums would have. "Phantom of the Opera" is one of the best Iron Maiden songs of all time.

Paranoid is an overrated album in that it's not the best Black Sabbath album. However, it has some great songs on it. "Paranoid," "Iron Man," "War Pigs" and "Planet Caravan" all stand out as true classics of the heavy metal genre.
