Within the first minute of Premiers Symptomes there is an invigorating approach to the sublime. The build up to "Modular Mix" gently pushes your ears into a funky, house groove that warps your head into your headphones or, in the case of speakers, draws you in for the ride serenely. It is the type of release that lets you know, ahead of time, that changing the song is not going to happen for a solid 33.8 minutes. Air is good at this bewilderment upon listening format; but something about "Premiers" gives it a push and shove into a party atmosphere as well as a more than perfect sleep aid. Oh and if you get to that point in the AM where nothing makes sense and you've been glazed-eyed for a good bit, this is an epic electronic soundscape thats sure to spark wave after wave of euphoria. Air means two things to me. Relaxing and partying. Simultaneously. Sorry for spelling errors or brevity. First try at this. PS check out Le Voyage Dans La Lune" after this for a nice one-two punch in the ears.

This grows on you. The "Old Heads" will probably throw a rock at you for putting on the stereo, but will gasp at the brilliantly executed Jerry Garcia sample. The first track is just so...unnatrual in a way. the second the flutes start flying around i can't tell whether I'm at a pub in Scotland or flying through a beautiful meadow on rainy day. Great from start to finish. And with a little time, every vocal melody will stick in your head for a long, long time.

This is without a doubt one of the most over the top, psychedelic albums out there. Every song has so much jammed packed into it; the listener either gets vertigo or dances their ass off. Its hard not to stress the frenzied hip-hoppishness of this classic Beck LP and throw it on the higher pedestals of this magician's career. "Nicotene and Gravy" has always been a favorite of mine. Danceable and catchy. And, naturally, weird in all the right ways.

Dark, yet overwhelmingly euphoric at times. This is indeed a conglomeration of everything good about music today, and a landmark effort in production from both Linkous and Burton. The sounds utilized mould each track into something surreal, and the various vocals add to the collage of atmosphere. Warrants multiple listens, and rewards each run through with something new.

Of Montreal Aldhils Arboretum4.5
This is an extremely important record that carries a strong influence on 21st century psych-pop music. Kevin Barnes and company have been innovating since the early four-tracks, and Aldhils is a key tweak in sound for the band. Its twitchy rhythms and tempos can be heard clearly even on Skeletal Lamping, and are telling of the latter half of Of Montreal's catalogue. "A Question For Emily Foreman" displays some of the bands best guitar work, and "An Ode To the Nocturnal Muse" will make you smile uncontrollably. The entire work is teeming with a psych-pop chaos, yet maintains a nonchalant groove throughout.
Of Montreal Skeletal Lamping4.5
Last year's most underrated album, and i couldn't say that more sincerely. As off-putting as this nearly hour-long rapocalypse of dreams and colors and noises appears at first, it has solidified itself into cohesive work upon several rlistens. Its almost as if Kevin Barnes is at the helm of some psychedelic dream-machine; championing the vessel rthrough waves of blissful depression. He has, at last, entirely transformed into his alter ego "Georgie Fruit", and the rhalf woman half man subconsciously parades through each song in rapid ADHD fashion. Altogether, the album rcould've been dissected into three separate works, considering the amount of rhythms and rhyme-scapes present. rBut Barnes would rather throw it all into some sort of terrifying, yet ultimately rewarding experience.
Of Montreal Coquelicot Asleep In The Poppies4.5
This could be Of Montreal's most ambitious album. It glistens with great harmonies, various instrumentation (lots of great orchestral/classic piano arrangements), and the quirky song structures and lyrics that make Of Montreal's sound so unique. Some of the best bass work in all of their catalogue as well.

Classic in the sense that each listen yields new insights into the noises and voices which nonchalantly destroy your ear drums. Plus Kim is awesome on this album; oh and probably the best tracking of any Sonic Youth release. Screaming Skull catches you off guard where it hurts and you can't help fist pumping in between the songs that get you ready for the more melodious segments. Awesome all the way through.

A wonderful fusion of Afro-beat, Pop, and Albarn brilliance wrapped up in a neat 12 piece theatre. A showcase of ballsiness and beauty; the Good the Bad and the Queen somehow went relatively under the radar for such spectacular talent involved. Above all else, however, the songs themselves stand out as mini paintings of London and modern life.
