A tale of two half albums- the first is amazing, the second is truly rubbish.
U2 War
U2 Rattle and Hum
U2 No Line on the Horizon
I still feel a true moment of freedom, liberation, joy when I hear Bono singing 'Breathe'. The album is musically interesting and more ambitious than much of their previous work- and more than many others would have you think. Some tracks bore more quickly than others ('Boots', 'Magnificent', 'Stand up comedy') but overall I think this is a solid effort. Unknown Caller is an undeniably great song.

3.0 good
Biffy Clyro Only Revolutions
Chris Cornell Scream
This album might be cringeworthy, and might not be terribly catchy, and might be radically different from what he's done before. But the amount of hate this album gets is unbelievable. Any fan of his previous work isn't going to approach this with open ears, thus the incredibly poor ratings. Not a masterpiece, but it isn't absolute garbage.
Eminem Recovery

Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2

Dream Theater A Dramatic Turn of Events
BCSL gave us a Nightmare to Remember. This album has given us nothing to remember.
Linkin Park Living Things
Getting tired of the ultra-generic song structures of songs such as 'lost in the echo' and 'I'll be gone'. This thread of boredom first arose most noticeably in 'New Divide' and 'What I've Done'- disappointing to see it still prevalent in the work of a band with real potential to be original (A Thousand Suns at times demonstrated this).
