Passion Pit Gossamer
Passion Pit's third album is clearly a triumph and I enjoyed every track. Though If I had to pick two signature songs from the album, they would have to be the dreamy "Carried Away" and "Cry Like A Ghost". This is undoubtly the best album of 2012.

CHVRCHES Every Open Eye
After giving this one a full run through, I definitely get the comments about this album being safer and sticking to ra more consistent atmosphere. Never the less, Lauren's vocal prowess has gotten a lot stronger and there are a rlot of interesting synth melodies thrown around despite similar song structures. However, it lacks any massive rhooks like in "The Mother We Share" or "Gun", or a very aggressive cut like "Lies". The fact that TBOWYB varied rin style throughout is what makes it endearing for me, though EOE has a few synth pop gems. I'm giving this rone a score well below TBOWYB (4.0) with a 2.4.Maybe next time, CHVRCHES.rFavorite Tracks: Leave a Trace, Clearest Blue, High Enough to Carry You Over, Bury It

Fun indie pop record that is a nice stylistic mix of their first two LP's (prime example is SHC). Not game changing or anything but great at doing what it was meant to.

Of Monsters and Men My Head is an Animal
Though the album has a fair share of cliche instrumental segments and lyrics (Love Love Love or Dirty Paws), the upbeat nature and gorgeous composition of songs like Mountain Sound or From Finner (featuring the dual fronting vocals that are a great feature of the band) give it a major boost.r3.3
of Montreal The Gay Parade
Passion Pit Constant Conversations
Passion Pit Tremendous Sea of Love
More like a 3.7, Passion Pit tweaks its formula slightly, comes back with a record more lyrically strong, and dare I say, sonically experimental, than Kindred. Best tracks are To The Other Side and Somewhere Up There, along with Inner Dialogue.
Porter Robinson Worlds
Purity Ring Shrines
Rostam Half-Light
Some songs feel like Ezra-less Vampire Weekend and his voice can sound like he's grinning and chuckling while singing (which can be pretty annoying), but overall Rostam's debut solo album is solid. Best tracks are Bike Dream and Half-Light
Sky Sailing An Airplane Carried Me to Bed
Created a couple years before Owl City, Adam Young had this modest little acoustic project known as Sky Sailing, just including a guitar, piano, and synth. If you're a fan of any of Adam Young's work than this music is for you, and it often feels like it is better than some of Owl City's work.

Passion Pit Kindred
I really wanted to like this as much as Gossamer or even Manners. I'm a sucker for Passion Pit, they have been
my favorite for awhile. However, without the juxtaposition crafted by Michael's confused and sorrowful lyrics
with bright synths, Passion Pit is in danger of becoming, well, just another indie pop band. Gossamer was one of
the most endearing and smart indie pop indie rocks of the last decade, but this is just a different album. The
lyrics are still good, but more concise and on the surface. It cannot be denied that songs hook on much faster
and are amazing synth pop songs. But with the lack of substance barring many of the first cuts, it loses steam
about halfway through and this becomes probably the least of Passion Pit's albums. This is a 3.2, solid, but not
on par with their other LP's. Fun summer jams for sure, very fun. Just not enough substance to carry beyond
summer.

Favorite Tracks: Lifted Up (1985), Whole Life Story, Where the Sky Hangs, basically every song up until the half
point of the album.
Phoenix (FRA) Ti Amo
As much as I want to like this album, the lack of variety in sound really kills my enthusiasm for repeated listens. Telefono, Fior Di Latte, J-Boy, and Tutti Frutti are all great tracks however. Sadly, there's too many dead ends for this album as a whole to avoid feeling at least a bit like well.. melted gelato.
The Killers Sam's Town

2.5 average
Arcade Fire Everything Now
A hollow and empty shell of the album before it. Blunt and lazy lyrics mixed with songs that stay entrenched in vapid, dull melodies lead to an overall disappointing album. However, tracks like Everything Now, Electric Blue, and Creature Comfort are bright spots.
Bleachers Strange Desire

Japandroids Near To The Wild Heart Of Life
Much of the energy that made Japandroids interesting in the first place has seemingly disappeared. "No Known Drink or Drug" or "In The Body Like a Grave" give a glimpse of what once was.
