so far I am really digging the sound that they have progressed to. I don't look at it like they are trying to be like any other their previous albums, but that it is just a natural new direction and I think they do it exceptionally well. I haven't been able to listen to it with the lyrics but I have full faith that Aaron has outdone himself with them again too.

Well, it seems you're on your way out now. It's hard to believe I've kept up with you guys for nearly 10 years, looking forward to each new record with a childlike enthusiasm I've only experience with a handful of bands. I was listening to One Wing the other day and couldn't help wonder if the sheer emotional intensity of "Cheek" was planned. Whether you knew it would be your last recorded imprint on this earth and you had to go out with everything you had left. I'm left wondering if you guys had it in you to create something even better than One Wing, or whether One Wing was planned as a final goodbye. In any case, you've ended on arguably the highest note hardcore has seen in a long time.

From a fan eternally grateful to have known your music,

Long Live.

Muse The 2nd Law
I thought this would be absolutely terrible based on "Madness", "Survival", and "Unsustainable", and those are for sure, but the songs that the bassist sings in (also wrote?) are actually pretty good and not Muse-like at all, which is a good thing. Some of the other songs suck like "Supremacy" and "Panic Stations", but the album overall is better (and seemingly less indulgent) than The Resistance. It's a step up imo, but nothing that touches Muse pre-2006 (though the bassist songs should hardly be compared to anything Muse)

Skrillex Recess
On Recess, Skrillex's much anticipated debut album, electronic virtuoso Sonny Moore conveys what it means to be human. His sonic tidal waves of heavily distorted synth, which fluctuate up and down hypnotically, explore the vastness of human emotion. All wars, human achievements, political movements, social injustices, scientific advancements, and ideological revolutions are captured in the album's eleven movements. This is art at its most transcendent and realized--A shining monument for contemporary music, and a beacon of hope for a world undeserving of such godlike genius.
