5.0 classic |
Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde |
Blonde on Blonde flows like a river. On this album, you can tell that Dylan knew he was making a fucking beast of an album. |
Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks |
Dylan puts his heart and soul into an album and instead of writing political songs or clever metaphors, he just lays his emotions out on the table and shows everybody that he's a fucking master. |
Descendents Milo Goes to College |
Pop-punk before it was a joke amongst music fans. Simple Plan and Good Charlotte have NOTHING on these guys. Every song is a short burst of beautiful poppy punk bliss, with sarcastic angsty teen vocals and basslines to die for. And "Bikeage" brings a tear to my eye. |
Dinosaur Jr. You're Living All Over Me |
J Mascis has a horrible voice, they are sloppy, the lyrics are whiny, blah blah blah - Shut the fuck up. That's called rock n' roll. Mascis croons like a southern gentlemen after about six joints and a handful of pills and he plays his guitar better than Christ himself. "Sludgefeast" is as epic as indie/college rock could ever be; it is their "Kashmir" or their "Won't Get Fooled Again", and songs like "Kracked" and "In A Jar" just make me proud to love rock n' roll. |
Melvins Bullhead |
Pixies Doolittle |
Pixies Best of Pixies: Wave of Mutilation |
Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back |
Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet |
Ramones Rocket to Russia |
Sonic Youth Daydream Nation |
It's not THAT goddamn noisy. Or frustrating. Just a brilliant record that's like a Sgt. Pepper with distortion and more influence from Dinosaur Jr than from LSD. A must-own for everyone, and while it isn't for everybody, it's an album that every music fan should experience. Whether or not you'll experience it like I did, I don't know. |
Sonic Youth Sister |
Sister is the Ride the Lightning of Sonic Youth's career; it is essentially the major turning point where they go from being your college kid's jerk material to everybody's jerk material. |
The Beatles Revolver |
Weezer Weezer |
