Between the Buried and Me The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues
As with most people, when BTBAM announced an EP, I imagined one long track. Instead, what "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" gives the listener is a more focused and "concentrated" BTBAM. As much as the announcement of this EP lead me to believe that their new label, Metal Blade, was attempting a quick cash-in of their new artist, after a few listens, it becomes clear that this is their best work since "Colors". While a typical BTBAM album usually consists of 5-8 tracks and clocking in around 50 minutes to an hour, "The Parallax" halves that. As a BTBAM fan, this would normally be discouraging, but the result is a focused half hour of killer progressive technical wizadry without the filler.
Cold 13 Ways to Bleed On Stage
Cold is one of those bands who I grew up listening to, and although my musical tastes have changed, this album remains one of my favorites of all time. As emotional as a hard rock is going to get, Scooter Ward's lyrics are a standout.
Cryptopsy None So Vile
Cynic Traced in Air
Every Time I Die New Junk Aesthetic
Karnivool Sound Awake
Killswitch Engage Alive or Just Breathing
La Dispute Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair
Mr. Bungle California
Although considered Mr. Bungle's most "accessible" album, it still maintains the musical denseness and complexity (read:weirdness) that Mike Patton/Mr. Bungle fans have come to expect.
Orphaned Land Mabool (The Story of the Three Sons...)
Pelican The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon...
Periphery Periphery
Porcupine Tree In Absentia
Protest the Hero Fortress
Rx Bandits Mandala
An excellent album that sees the RX Bandits maturing and growing from even their most well received album (arguably). Standout tracks: White Lies, March of the Caterpillar, Hope is a Butterfly, No Net Its Captor.
Scale the Summit Carving Desert Canyons
SikTh Death of a Dead Day
The Black Dahlia Murder Unhallowed

3.0 good
Four Year Strong Explains It All
Gets the essentials of a covers album right: recognizable song choices and fun covers, but the album as a whole lacks depth and will probably wear thin for most people relatively quickly.
Lamb of God Wrath
As a fan of Lamb of God's previous releases, this album was somewhat of a disappointment. It is still a solid album, but it just seems to lack the pure aggression that their previous albums had running through them.
Nachtmystium Assassins: Black Meddle Pt.1
Psychostick Sandwich
The Damascus Intervention Carefully Built, Carelessly Destroyed

2.5 average
Killswitch Engage Killswitch Engage (2009)
MyChildren MyBride Unbreakable
