John Frusciante The Empyrean
Perhaps the main thing that turned me on to 'The Empyrean' and John Frusciante's solo work in general is the fact that he really has the freedom as an individual to let his own talents and aspirations shine. Apart from the musicianship, there wasn't really too much that RHCP had to offer in my opinion. With The Empyrean, the complexity and talent of Frusciante is very in your face, yet the songs also touch a whole new part of the soul, reaching far beyond what words can even explain. The man himself is one big mystery to me, which begs the opportunity to dive even further into his prior solo efforts.
Modest Mouse The Moon & Antarctica
Nothing to see here... just another shitty soundoff. This album's good btw.
Modest Mouse The Lonesome Crowded West
The album that you're "Modest Mouse fan" friends haven't even heard of. WTF?!
Say Anything ...Is a Real Boy
I can try all I want, there's no way this soundoff will ever be as witty as anything on ...Is A Real Boy.
Sufjan Stevens Illinois
The Antlers Hospice
Cancer plays a role in everyone's life in one way or another. For some, maybe the fear hasn't yet become reality, and they're presently wading in the morose beauty that is Hospice, hoping that day never comes.
The National Alligator
This album is more quotable than an episode of Spongebob.
The National High Violet
Happy people still able to write melancholy music 5/5
Weezer Pinkerton
I was so obsessed with Pinkerton and this band in general at one point that I almost bought the book about Rivers' diary entries during this album's recording and release.
Weezer The Blue Album
One of the few albums from my childhood that has actually retained both nostalgia and quality of musicianship. Blue album still holds a special place in my heart. Sorry Linkin Park...

This is something else. It's probably mostly the fanboy in me that gives this the rating I did, but looking at JF's work from a general perspective, I get goosebumps just thinking about what he has in store with the new LP coming out in just a matter of months. He felt like making a 'progressive synth-pop' record, or whatever he calls it, and he pulled it off in the oddest of fashions. The man does whatever the hell he wants, and it's awesome! Think 'A Sphere in the Heart of Silence' with this EP, if we're making comparisons.
Kings of Convenience Riot on an Empty Street
Here I am lost in thought again... the only scenario where it's OK to admit that I love KOC.

John Frusciante Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt
This is a 5, but only when I'm drunk...and Niandra Lades is way better than Usually Just a T-Shirt.
John Frusciante The Will to Death
John Frusciante Smile from the Streets You Hold
There are some songs that sit well with me in a normal state of mind, such as the tracks with River Phoenix on them. However, much like JF's prior effort on 'Niandra Lades...", this album is much better enjoyed when drunk. It's almost like background music in one sense, but on another note, the songs resonate so vividly on nights set aside just to ponder life and rant with close friends on the internet.
