Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Perhaps 2000's 'Ok Computer'. Never in my life have I seen an album deal with human nature the way 'The Devil and God are raging inside me' does. Every thing works perfectly. It's fantastic. It's genious. A classic.

Truth is the only downside to be found in a album like Blackbird is the recurrence in the songs' structure; put this aside and you'll have one of the most solid, flawless hard rock albums of the last decade.

Anberlin New Surrender
Anberlin releases a truly superb album, in which almost every song is a highlight. While maintaining their catchy side, the band was able to create songs with a great deal of quality and consistency, with envolving atmospheres and significative lyrics. From the catchy Haight Street, to the nostalgic Misearbile Visu (ex malo bonum), Anberlin managed to create what surely is one of their most complete albuns. Recommended tracks: Haight St., Misearbile Visu (ex malo bonum), Soft Skeletons, Younglife, Disappear.

"No matter how much one denigrates the music industry and its lack of originality from year to year, there is bound to be at least one act that appears out of nowhere to place a smile on an individuals face and restore his or her faith in this fantastic thing we call music. In 2010, that act is Sydney quartet Parades."
Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
Queen Absolute Greatest
That Queen is a inalienable musical reference is a widely-known and accepted fact. Their musical inheritance is so ample that if one wants to listen to various genres in just one album, the best thing to do certainly is to spin some Queen LP. Probably you'll find touches and influences from progressive rock, pop, glam rock, dance, hard rock, blues, opera, gospel and so many other I can't remember right now. Their sound tends to be, therefore, somewhat pretentious, full of grandious instrumentalization and choirs that either work very well or feel grandly exagerated when out of place. Nevertheless, the talent of all the musicians never fails to impress and Mercury's voice will always be, in my view, the greatest to ever exist. Although this album won't impress many loyal fans since it's their 17th compilation, it will be usefull for those who aren't familiar with the band. It's a collection of all the band's hits, consequently it's awesome, it's superb, it's a (semi-)classic. Especially in a time in which all we hear is radio ca ca. Rec'd: Bohemian Rhapsody, Who Wants To Live Forever, Seven Seas Of Rhye, I Want To Break Free, Radio Ga Ga, We Are The Champions, A Kind Of Magic, The Show Must Go On, Another One Bites The Dust, Don't Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You, Killer Queen
Radiohead The Bends
Even without knowing the whole discography of the band, it's easy to guess Radiohead seted on this album some of the best songs they've ever written. However, a couple of filler tracks in its final section brings a weariness feeling to the album, as if it become suddenly old and began to slowly die. On the other hand, Street Spirit, Fake Plastic Trees, High & Dry are notable alternative rock tracks, featuring the typical big charge of emotion behind a nostalgic atmosphere - that would be remembered for the rest of their career. Nevertheless, the guitar section in the heavier songs of the album is rather impressive, which shows Radiohead isn't the representative band of only one genre. In short, if something in this band's discography is better that the The Bends, this album, considering its consistency, ampleness, its highlights and the impact it had then (and will have now) surely isn't one to forget or overlook. Recomended Tracks: Street Spirit (Fade Out), Fake Plastic Trees and High & Dry.

Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone
Breaking Benjamin Phobia
Phobia is Breaking Benjamin at their best, showing progress in almost every area of their sound. Perhaps the most notable highlight is the dark, mysterious atmosphere that the band incorporated, probably concretized by the intros that made this album so famous. Looking in retrospective, the album is pretty diverse in musical terms colecting radio-friendly quality songs ('Diary of Jane', 'Breath' & 'Until The End'), heavier tones ('Had Enough' & 'Topless'), alternative experiences that actually work pretty well ('Outro' & 'You Fight Me') - which shows that they should be more experimental - and the acoustic touch in the piano version of 'Diary Of Jane'. Lyrics are satisfatory, if a bit repetitive; the exceptions would be the messy 'Topless' and 'Here We Are', a letdown both lyrically and musically. Other standouts include 'Dance With The Devil' and 'Unknown Soldier'. Gathering qualities like consistency, diversity and creativity, 'Phobia' is effectively Breaking Benjamin's best album to date (with the latest being 'Dear Agony').

Alter Bridge One Day Remains
Alter Bridge AB III
Alter Bridge should just have made this album shorter. Moodier and heavier than its predecessor, ABIII goes way too long for the genre and repeats itself too many times; 'Still Remains' and 'I know it hurts' are way too similar; 'Make it right', 'Fallout', 'Breathe Again' and 'Life must go on' add absolutely nothing to the album, except for continuing the storyline of a nihilist looking for the truth. When not forgettable and a bit dull - like in the cases of 'Make it right' and 'Breathe again' -, those songs keep the music quality of the album, but are unnecessary and would maybe work out better as b-sides. The next effort should have a wider field for innovation. rListen to: Slip to the void, Isolation, Coeur d'Alene, Words darker than their wings.

Nothing too important to say - never considered this guys amazing. The whole of this album ends up being pleasent, melodic and solid, sounding as good as they can, but with a poorer light, a slow-death sign: a probable indication that from now on things will get worse.

Before this guys split up, they were not only the very first hip hop band in Portugal, but also greatest. Their so ample variety of influences - from hip hop, to trash metal, soul, R&B - made each of their of their albuns worth to listen to, as they would surprise with a heavy riff coming from nowhere and in the next song would be singing something 50 Cent would do. Breaking Benjamin Dear Agony
Unfortunately, for an album that combines Breaking Benjamin's forces, Dear Agony ends up being frustrating for employing the same repetitive formula to every single song. Since they have been applying such structure for years and years, one would expect some change now. From the begining to the end of this album, there isn't a single song that slows into to a nice acoustic, an instrumental or even a simple cover, anything that differs from the riff-verse-chorus-bridge thing. It's like listening to one great song lasting for forty minutes. It's worth it: What Lies Beneath, Will not bow, Give me a sign (look for it in acoustic), Without you.

2.0 poor
50 Cent Curtis
IMO, 50 Cent is and probably will always be an average rapper who, just like the generic those in the genre, runs his mouth talking about how bad his life was and how good it is now, adding sex and drugs to the mixture. Hinder Extreme Behavior
Linkin Park A Thousand Suns
So, yeah, I can see why someone would consider this a step up from their previous. There's, however, at least three reasons why it isn't: 1. Half of the album are interludes. 2. There's some really generic and bad songs here. Burning In The Skies is a mediocre ballad, with mediocre lyrics, mediocre singing and it's even rehashed from Shadow Of The Day, a single from their previous, huummmm, how should I call it, "effort". Blackout and The Messenger both suffer from very poor songwriting and the most forced vocals ever. 3. Although many consider the change of musical style some kind of an evolution, I seriously can't take out of the head the idea of Linkin Park members reuniting and deciding something like: "Hey, rock isn't fashion anymore, let's try electronica, everybody's listening to that now". Nice try, sellouts. Nevertheless, the two first singles are decent enough to be worth a listen like twice in a month. Otherwise they will get old, just like any other song coming from this guys. In conclusion, give the The Catalyst, Waiting For The End and even Wretches And Kings a try, but don't bother buying the whole thing.
Nickelback Dark Horse
This will be extremely successfull on the radio. I mean, Something In Your Mouth is such a hard rocker and If Today Was Your Last Day is the most touching ballad of all time.
