As bad, if not worse, as Ithyphallic. The production is a huge improvement though. But the album is pretty unbalanced, some of the songs are good, and the majority is just 'meh'. I don't have a lyric book, but they seem like a pretty big stepdown. Kafir! is just karl sanders repeating 'There Is No God!" over, and over, and over. From that alone, the lyrics are something you'd expect a deathcore band to write. Performancewise, you know what to expect, i mean, its still fucking nile. But all 'Those Whom the Gods Detest' is, is just another disappointing nile album alongside Ithyphallic and Black Seeds of Vengance. It does have its moments though, but its nothing special.

Sure it tries to sound more death metal then the first album, but it's still pretty boring, plauged with generic songwriting, Gene Hoglan must be bored to death, the riffs are pretty lame and unmemorable, the guitar solo's all sound the same : a sweep arpegio played 4 times in a row followed by a bridge. If you hated the first album, you'll hate this one equelly. Theres a louder low end, but otherwise the production remains basicly the same.... Just watch the show, they only play a song for like 12 seconds an episode.

Overrated is a understatement. This album sucks pretty hard considering its commecial and critical success. Its just boring, pretty much. No notable momment, nothing really entertaining, annoyiing singing, and badly produced acoustic parts. Vedder pretty much just sings about stuggles in life, thats about it, very boring. the guitar work is nothing that special, and the solos are pretty crappy and annoying. The bass has some cool parts but the majority is forgetable. The druming is your average rock drumming, once again, boring. This album just really failed to entertain me.

Red Hot Chili Peppers One Hot Minute
There was only one thing that made their previous album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, a masterpeice : Frusciante's awesome guitar work... That album on its other aspects, is just 'okay'. The basslines are 'meh', as flea abandons his slapping technique for rooting patterns, chad smith is a terrible drummer (there is nothing decent to say about him), and Anthony Kiedis is a pretty lame singer, combined with his dumb lyrics, he's pretty useless....... That pretty much describes the faults of BSSM. Now here's theyre follow up, all thats been said remains the same excluding flea slapping one of his riffs, and frusicante quit the band by this time. Instead, we have Dave Navarro of Janes Addiction on guitars, despite the fact that i completely hate janes addiction, his guitar work on One Hot Minute is pretty horrid when combined with the rest of the band : He does not fit into the sound at all... This album pretty much sucks and this period of the Chili Peppers is just embarassing, go youtube their cover of 'Love Rollercoaster' for a good laugh. Then youtube the first track of this album, 'Warped'..... Need i say more?

All i've heard from this album is that one single on the radio, and that was enough to bring myself to a conclusion that the whole album would be awful. I listened to it, and my mind must of mentally blocked everything out because i cant recollect one decent part off the entire album. So, this is my hypothosis on why my brain doesnt connect with this album. We have 45ish year olds trying to be punk, yet everything from the lyrics to the songwriting is pure commercialism, no deviance, no intensity, just pop songs for 12 year old girls who believe mtv is still music orienated. It's really dreadful, the lyrics, like all pop-punk bands that are still trying to maintain a career, are political leftist bullshit that annoys you in leu of educate you. The guitar work is crap, i never knew it was possible for a guitarist to get worse the more he plays, enjoy some monotonous power chords, cause thats pretty much all the variety your going to get. Drumming is crap, uninspired and boring. Bass work didn't stand out, but for such a 'punk' record, its not too surprising. The singing sounds like a old dude trying to revisit his past vocals, and that pretty much offers nothing new to enjoy. offspring should just break up, theyre sales are declining, they havent released anything worth a penny in over a decade.
