This was a 2 one year ago. I tried a few times here and there, but it never grabbed my attention. Could not fucking understand the appeal. Now, I think this album is a work of genius and Washer is probably the best song I have ever heard. it feels good to know that surely even now i'm too dumb to appreciate certain albums i've already heard repeatedly and think I understand, and appreciate them to this magnitude.

The Smiths The Smiths
The Smiths Hatful of Hollow
yes its a compilation idgaf. every song is five stars on my itunes, except for accept yourself and these
things take time. my highest stats album. in addition, back to the old house is a 6.66/5. though i do
agree with the guy below me right now, that the reel around the fountain version on the self-titled has
an amazing piano that is not to be found here. The production on this album I believe compensates for
this; I listen to both versions of this track about the same amount. However this track, in my opinion, is
the only song found on an LP that is even close in quality to its Hatful of Hollow counterpart.

I could S godspeed's D all day every day, but when it comes down to it this has to be my favorite post-rock
album. Mono is A-team post-rock, and when it is mixed with World's End, performance meets vision. The last
song is genre-defining. I worry about post-rock before realizing the illusion of monotony is probably only
paved in the wake of fucking flawless outputs like this. who knows, but seriously, how does one progress
from this? if you missed this YOU HAVE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE

This album is so intelligently fun. The flawless structure combined with the Australian
smoker-vocals produce a sound that contains everything I look for in an album: passion,
innovative songwriting (with a catchy, traditional rock style nonetheless), and insightful
lyricism. This is my slightly louder version of the impact I get from NMH, if that makes any
sense.
The Magnetic Fields 69 Love Songs
What you have to do with this is give this whole monster two full listens and really focus. Don't find out which songs are exceptional from different people because chances are you'll find yourself appreciating other songs more on this gem. That's the key with this album, its so damn personal that it literally creates different results from everyone. Weed out the stuff that is by no means filler, but is just not something that you think could appeal to you with subsequent listens. Then put the stuff you did thoroughly enjoy together and you've got yourself a unique powerhouse of a super-album. Then the more you listen to your own super-album, the more it will connect with you. And trust me, there's a lot to connect with; the mess of emotions portrayed in all aspects of a romantic relationship is just dazzling when combined with the catchiness and musical ability of the Magnetic Fields. Every so often, go back and listen to the whole thing, and it's likely that you'll find a whole new plethora of meaningful songs you idiotically missed, and you'll like those even more. It's like filtering water over and over again until you've created a collection that is so remarkably pure and its brilliant.
The Microphones It Was Hot We Stayed In The Water
The National Alligator
The National Boxer
The National High Violet
At first, as a reluctant National fan boy, I was not ready to admit that their newest release, a release that I had significantly less time to dissect or even embrace, was their best release. But then I decided that with their third incredible album in a row, their perfection in booming raw emotion( Alligator) finally aligned with their perfection in solidifying mood and meaning in each moment (Boxer). The song structures showed a new flame of innovation, which was always the only real downside I saw in their previous efforts. And soon enough, it shot up the ranks of albums closest to me. And I pretty much see it as flawless.
The Pogues Rum, Sodomy & The Lash
The Smiths The Queen Is Dead
The eighties sucked a fat one and this is audial proof.rThe end of I Know It's Over is one of the most extraordinarily powerful moments in music period end of story.

Weezer Pinkerton
This was a five but I decided that it can't be. Yet there aren't many negative things that I can say about this ralbum since I accept its glaring technical faults as almost a sort of welcoming naivete that contributes to its rfeel. My only issue I've come to realize is that its effects are fleeting. Maybe I'm just growing up. Regardless rthis is Weezer's greatest moment, period.redit: changing it back. fuck not loving this album

Beach House Teen Dream
Beach House has perfected their lush, dream synth pop style on this record. Victoria's soaring vocals are even more remarkable, and while Beach House still has the slight problem of failing to create variety in their tracks, the sound created is so pleasing that it is not an irritating task to dig in order to find the uniqueness among each song. "Walk In The Park," is the band's best moment thus far.
