Blind Witness Nightmare on Providence Street
Blind Witness' debut, Silence Are Words, was a solid release, but left room for improvement. 3 years later, they're back with Nightmare on Providence Street, an album that is miles ahead of their first. Gone are the shitty clean vocals and annoying inhaled screams, the vocalist really stepped up his game. He provides a great variety of low, mid and high growls and shrieks throughout the album that doesn't get old and do not annoy the listener anymore. This time around, the guitar work is much more varied and creative ranging from fast riffs to more melodic sections. There's even a couple interesting solos ( Intro of These Countless sleepless nights ) Unfortunately, they still rely on breakdowns a lot, but hey, it's a metalcore album. They are rather well implented ( Baby, one more notch ), and do not drag the music down. Another improvement is the drumming, which was nothing special on the last record. The drumming is much more tight with fast double bass ( Baby, one more notch ) and great fills. Despite all the improvement, it's still a bit generic.
It took 3 years for Blind Witness to define their sound, but it was worth it. All the faults that cursed their debut are now fixed. Nightmare on Providence Street opens the way to a bright future for this Montreal metalcore outfit and manages to place them on the brighter side of metalcore

A Dead Motion Glass Wall Scenery
Glass Wall Scenery, the first full length of canadian metalcore outfit A Dead Motion, is a good exemple of the genre done right.
Okay, I admit that they sound a bit too much like August Burns Red, but there's nothing wrong with that. The technical yet melodic riffs will keep you interested and the heavy breakdowns will take you to headbanging heaven. Only downsides are the laughable at best clean singing ( See The Devil Wears Prada ) and the ridiculous lyrics. Don't judge too fast and give it a listen if you're into fun metal music.
