I haven't heard anything that sounds quite like this before. Tragically, Balkans near perfect debut (their only album) will most likely remain completely undiscovered and overlooked.Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside MeCap'n Jazz AnalphabetapolothologyElliott Smith Either/OrElliott Smith Elliott SmithElliott Smith Roman CandleFear Before The Always Open MouthGodspeed You! Great for listening on repeat. And the middle of "Strawberries 1 + 2" totally goes into this groove that sounds exactly like one of Godspeed's new songs. Kinda funny. Just a great garagey, experimental album. Specifically the trumpet sections, which is why I bought it. But some parts really rub me the wrong way. Some of vocal parts really annoy me and take away from the music. Really only on the track "Hands Are For Helping", it makes me cringe. Maybe I was prepared for ALL THE EMOTIONS. But overall it's a very pulled together sounding record with a lot of interesting musical ideas and textures. I will see if it grows on me.
