By all rights a massive, sprawling modern Kayo Dot album should fail but Hubardo aims high and succeeds in every respect. An awe inspiring achievement.

In regards to Sigur Ros albums, this is beyond a doubt the most over hyped. However, it is still an incredible experience nontheless.

Boris New Album
Terrible day: Organic Chemistry final at 7:30am, rainy and cold, and I puked in front of a cute young lady on the sidewalk. But when I put New Album on, all that shit kind of went away. Oh yeah it's cliche to say such, but each track exponentially kicks more ass as the album moves along. It truly is "dreamy," and could almost be considered Boris' "pop album." For all the people who have been writing this band off as a drone based stoner novelty, you need to fucking hear this. And if their next two 2011 efforts are as good as this, then Boris is poised to be THE band of the year.

To no one's surprise, Neurosis make a damn great record. While not quite to the level of their last several "classics," Honor Found in Decay sits proudly within their discography as a truly solid piece of work.

The Mars Volta Amputechture
The Mars Volta The Bedlam in Goliath
The Mars Volta Noctourniquet
Sure they've made some questionable choices in the past, but The Mars Volta are always able to make something fresh and interesting. While many will argue how this ranks among their discography, in the end it won't matter because as always, it's unlike any other album in their fucking discography.

Boris Attention Please
Coheed and Cambria No World for Tomorrow
Coheed and Cambria Year of the Black Rainbow
People need to stop saying Chris Pennie is this band's saving grace. It's ridiculous. The drumming is noticeably better, no more, no less. It takes away from the band and all of their accomplishments stop being tools.

Solid album, very accessible. Really didn't care for NMFT but this is really great.
Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Ascension
okay this isn't that good.
Cryptopsy Cryptopsy
Cult of Luna Vertikal
Like every Cult of Luna record we get a slightly above avergae post metal album with shit tons of filler to make it seem more interesting than it is.
Explosions in the Sky The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
This album destroyed post-rock. rnot really but fuck you EITS
Explosions in the Sky All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone
Immolation Shadows in the Light

Make A Change...Kill Yourself Make A Change...Kill Yourself
Mono For My Parents
If I had to pick one band that is doing the least in progressing the genre, it would be a close race between rExplosions in the Sky and Mono. But what Mono lacks in originality (this is the exact same album they've rreleased over and over again) they make up for with their dramatic and emotive delivery. Bland, uninspired, rand derivative, "For My Parents" isn't going to change anyone's opinions on this band, but am I a sucker for rdem climaxes.
Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Nine Inch Nails Pretty Hate Machine
Nine Inch Nails With Teeth
Pelican Ephemeral
Pelican Ataraxia/Taraxis
Pelican pretty much needed this not to suck, and thankfully it doesn't
Sigur Ros Von
Sigur Ros Valtari
Largely feels like 80 minutes of filler....which is weird because the album isn't even that long.
The Dear Hunter Migrant
Follows the color spectrum in the steady decline of this band.
The Fall of Troy Manipulator
Touche Amore Parting The Sea Between Brightness And Me
It's more melodic and easily more poetic, but it lacks the overall energy that was so palpable on their 2009 effort. Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me is a great record that plays up the band's strengths, but after awhile it all begins to feel a bit 'samey,' and regretfully uninspired.
Xasthur Nocturnal Poisoning

Between the Buried and Me Alaska
Cynic Kindly Bent to Free Us
Drudkh Eastern Frontier in Flames
Explosions in the Sky Take Care, Take Care, Take Care
Same shit different album. A bit darker and mellow, but ultimately they haven't changed a damn thing in regards to songwriting. Got better after I let it sink in a bit, but damn EitS....
Just Like Vinyl Black Mass
La Dispute Somewhere at the Bottom of the River...
I wish I had something clever to say about this album. However, I do not. Simply, this is boring boring boring, which is a shame because this band really is incredible.
Mogwai The Hawk Is Howling
Nine Inch Nails The Slip
Olafur Arnalds Another Happy Day
Olafur Arnalds For Now I Am Winter
Pelican What We All Come To Need
Protest The Hero Scurrilous
Oh baby I tried, hell, I even lied to myself by giving this a higher rating. Regardless, this is not the band I fell in love with on Kezia, nor is it the mature, refined group of young men I admired on Fortress. They stripped away everything that made them such an intelligent and fun band, and instead created a vapid, uninteresting album full of terrible, terrible lyrics, and copy/pasted pieces from their other works. Scurrilous is boring, poorly thought out, and carelessly written; the definition of a disappointment.
Protest The Hero Volition
How many sweeps and lame lines of Rody's power metal vocals will it take for me to finally give up on this band? As the years pass the more it becomes apparent that Kezia was a fluke.
Sun Kil Moon Benji
The Decemberists The Hazards Of Love
