This album is absolutely a must-have for anyone that claims to like punk music. Simply an amazing album front to back.

Emery ...In Shallow Seas We Sail
while "i'm only a man" was characterized by "innovation" and "experimentation", "...In shallow seas we sail" sticks to what emery does well, and is all the better for it. the album proves that emery still has what it takes to make a good, enjoyable record.as a minor gripe, they've stuck with traditional song structures, which they proved on their FIRST cd they can manage without. verse-chorus-verse.. c'mon, emery we know you can do better.r

While an enjoyable listen, mwY’s latest simply does not have the musical, lyrical and emotional pull that their previous albums have had for me. I attest this to the fact that aaron seems to be happy now. Like I said, enjoyable cd, but I had much higher hopes for it.

the synth is back, although not a prominent as it was on "City", which is a good thing. what is also back though, is the obnoxious echoey vocal recording, which i don't think does justice to Geoff's excellent voice. The snare drum... I don't know, sounds hollow. it just stands out too much.
At any rate, it's a solid release but many fans will likely be pining for the days of full collapse when they hear this one.

Emery I'm Only A Man
Emery, why have you forsaken me? I used to be a huge fan of yours! What on earth spurred the tremendous changes in your direction? What about the interesting song structures? The simply lovely vocal harmonies? Where has the poetry, the deep meaningful lyrics gone?? Why would the band that wrote 'The Secret' write 'The Party Song'? I'm sorry, but I actaully liked having to sit and think about what your band was trying to say via song. There is no subtlety in your lyrics anymore.

I'd love to convince myself that this band is as good as everyone seems to say they are, but I really don't see it. rrepetitive but somewhat catchy Springsteen-inspired rock, nothing more.
The Get Up Kids The Guilt Show
The Juliana Theory Emotion is Dead
While to myself, a classic of the 'emo' genre, with songs like "into the dark" and "If I told you this was killing me, would you stop?", the album makes a few missteps into the mediocre with tracks like "We're at the top of the world" and two pointless and boring instrumental tracks.
