Lil Wayne Tha Carter II
Yes, Lil Wayne is a mainstream rapper. But he's the best of them all, and he has managed to gain most of his credibility through mixtapes, such as the excellent Da Drought 3 and Dedication 2. Tha Carter II is an actual release, and, while it doesn't stack up to his mixtape work, is still a very fine release indeed. Songs range from club-bangers ("Fireman"), glamourized tunes of money and drugs ("Money on my Mind"), and the occasional soft R&B track ("Shooter"). Tha Carter II is an excellent, sprawling release that is varied enough to never become boring, and is an absolute must-buy for any hip-hop fan.

Wintersun Wintersun
Metal has now defersified to a point when it is nearly pointless to talk about genres or genre classification. Take Wintersun for instance. Playing a supremely techinical combination of power, death, black, and thrash metal, Wintersun's epic self-titled debut is one of the best albums of the past few years. The songs here are usually very catchy, without substituting any of the brutalness found throughout. All and all, Wintersun has made a great album, and one that is a necessary pick up for any metal fan.

Bring Me The Horizon Count Your Blessings
Bring Me The Horizon. Ah, what to say...this is basically one of the worst metal releases ever. Hands down. Not because their lead singer looks "emo-ish" or "like the beatles", or that they have a "girly fanbase". I'm not sure if that is even true or not. I've never seen this band play, nor have I taken a good look at the fanbase. I've just heard this lame excuse for music: all the riffs here are stagnant and boring, the vocals may be the most consistently generic I've ever heard, and the breakdowns are in the same...exact...place...EVERY TIME!!!
This isn't because the whole genre is generic (a simple and bigoted lie) or that I don't know what I'm talking about. I do. And this album sucks. End of story.
