Love Forever Changes
Love's third album is released in 1967 and marked radical artistic departure for the band. Probably one of the best hippie albums ever, "Forever Changes" is a really significant title. After this, there was no way back. At the first listen, you hear some really nice harmonies. But every other listening reveal more and more conflicts, displeasures. Jac Holzman said that Arthur Lee was one of the most talented musicians ever, but it was Lee's schizoid personality that kept him off the bigger commercial success. Here, on "Forever Changes", he already began to slide into his inner world. And that is the essence of "Forever Changes" - You know, everything is alright but I want to get away, it is not the world I wanna live in, so I'm gonna find another one. In one word, escapism.
Neil Young Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
Neil Young On the Beach
The best Neil's album. It has special burn-out feel. Neil managed to be very melodic on "See the Sky About to Rain" and "Walk On", and make some cool grooves, especially title track, "Revolution Blues", and "Vampire Blues" and put some gentle folky touches on "Motion Pictures", "Ambulance Blues", and "For The Turnstiles". All these three ingredients are perfectly balanced. What makes this album so special, is Neil delivery, in the same time he sounds like he had some revelation, he won his private war, but he maintained his sense for black humor, and never became indulgent.
