|This was the album that got me into weird music, basically. I was 14 or something. My dad, a guy who surely loves his music, told me it was great and I wanted to know what the fuss was about. So I borrowed it from him. On the first listen, the live disc just seemed like a bunch of random noises to me, and the studio disc was even worse. So I put it away for some time. But then on a second, particularly bored occasion, I dug the live part up again and it just kinda rang a bell. Right from the first organ bleeps of Astronomy Domine, all the way to the Dave Gilmour's soulful, wordless vocal that ends A Saucerful Of Secrets, I knew this exploratory, improvised, otherworldly alien music was the stuff I wanted to listen to for the rest of my life.|
And here I am now, 4 years later, listening to everything from Acid Mothers Temple through John Zorn.
