I think Washington is Next is the peak of the album. That song will most likely become the newest Megadeth classic. It has suprisingly good lyrics for Dave, and a great instrumental section with four solos, switching from Mustaine to Drover. The title track is another great song, it has the greatest chorus I've heard from Megadeth. The lyrics aren't masterful but the groove is orgasmic. Songs, Indivually: Sleepwalker- Heavy and headbangin'-worthy riffs but typically subpar Mustaine lyrics..... "Just takin' a stroll/Don't go to sleep/Here's some toothpicks for your eyes" Washington is Next- See above. Never Walk Alone- Solid song, but nothing noteworthy. It's more like how you would want a filler to sound like. United Abominations- See above. Gears of War- Not an extremely great song, but it is heavy and thrashy. Blessed Are The Dead- A great song about four horse riders, also shown in the album art. Play For Blood- This song is in particulary great with a chorus that pumps you up. A Tout Le Monde- Sucked the first time, and now they wipe more shit stains on it by adding Christina Scabbia. Don't get me wrong, Christina is great! She fits perfectly with the Lacuna Coil Male/Female singing but Megadeth just doesn't fit with her, even mainstream Megadeth such as A Tout Le Monde. Amerikhastan- An alright song with certain highpoints in the lyrics but is also musically subpar and isn't helped by spoken verses making it another filler such as the remake of A Tout Le Monde. You're Dead- This song SHOULD have been as solid as Never Walk Alone, but no, it is another sad and seemingly uninspired filler. Burnt Ice- This song actually was good unlike the three songs that proceed it at the end of the album. It's about Crystal Meth and is technically exceptional. It was an unexpected gem. Recommended in order: Washington is Next United Abominations Sleepwalker Play For Blood Burnt Ice4.5 superbDamageplan New Found PowerPowerful guitar work from Dimebag showing that Pantera isn't the only place where he can work his magic really made this album great. Unlike Pantera, the other aspects of the band seem to step-up just as high.2.5 averageShadows Fall Threads of LifeThis is an average album with only two good songs that don't sound so much alike. Double bass drums, subpar singer, straightforward but ultimately unoriginal guitars.
