Edguy Space Police - Defenders of the Crown
After the last Avantasia album came out a year ago, which I thought was Sammet's best work in nearly a decade, I thought Edguy might actually bounce back into the serious heavy metal territory of their early years. Then I saw the title and the album art. Upon listening to it, I can at least say half my prediction came true. This is their heaviest album since Hellfire Club but it retains the humor found on Rocket Ride; and isn't stale like the last two albums. Easily their best in years, album rocks hard.

Even though the lyrics are terrible and Kai Hansen's vocals are straining with age, this is an undeniably good power metal album. "Avalon" is a must-hear. The album's biggest con is how much it rips off other bands. Multiple Judas Priest songs are directly ripped off throughout the album, most notably on "Hellbent," and the song "Time for Deliverance" sounds just like Queen's "We Are the Champions." The band still manages the overcome these flaws to craft a great album, power and attitude give this album its rating.

A good album, but nothing Rhapsody hasn't already done before. The album feels a little toned down and undercooked compared to previous releases, with no songs really standing out against the others. Overall though, it's good to have another Rhapsody of Fire album and fans of the band will probably be pleased.

This album can be funny if you really lower your standards. Musically the album sounds good but plays on every cliche possible, which was its goal. The humor is so distasteful it just ends up only being funny to the most immature listeners. I know it's meant to be a joke, and therefore must be rated as one. If you take music seriously or are simply above age 11, do not listen to this. I grew up a long time ago.
