|Jesus Christ it's been so long, so long since the rap world has seen something new, innovative, and meaningful. Is this what Exmilitary is? A meaningful, new, innovative, mixtape? Or is it a pile of ***? People on the internet seem to be divided about this; some people think it’s the new "hip-hop revolution", and some people think it’s just hardcore garbage. I, on the other hand, am quit divided on this subject, and I will explain this.|
On one hand this is innovative, if you compare it to *** like lil wayne or any other “modern rap” out there. But that’s not the only reason; the beats are inspired by none other than throbbing gristle,or nine inch nails, and the vocalist or mc ride if you will, sounds paranoid and scared, which makes the music very ecstatic. Songs like “takyon”,” lord of the game” or “beware” are glorious strong points on this mixtape, if the whole album were like these things it would be a classic. Unfortunately this is not the case.
On the other hand, this album can be quit pretentious. Mostly because of Mc Ride, his vocals or “rhymes” if you will can be quit annoying. And some of the songs his lyrics are just down right awful. And there’s a lot of filler, especially toward the end. And songs like “klink”, “thru the walls” are just hardcore messes.
So it’s a mixed bag, some great songs, some not so great, fortunately death grips came out with some far more consistent material later on in there career.
