Xutos e Pontapes Circo de Feras
Circo de Feras remains Xutos e Pontapes' finest album. Released in 1987, it proved to be the band's breakthrough album and today it's considered one of rock's most important and influential albums made in Portugal. After the release of the band's second album Cerco, Xutos were making only minor success. For Circo de Feras, the band decided to take a different approach. A more guitar-driven sound was captured, and it did wonders for Xutos. From Ze Pedro's aggressive guitar riffs to Joao Cabeleira's melodic and dynamic guitar solos, the guitar really stands out in this album. However, the work provided by the rhythm section is also quite impressive and contributes to produce some of the band's best material ever. This album contains some classics for the band and rock in Portugal, and it remains a true testament to the band. Recommended Tracks: Contentores; Sai p'ra Rua; Nao Sou o Unico; Vida Malvada; Circo de Feras.

Rush Rush
This album is very underrated for Rush. While it's not as strong and excellent as "2112" and "Hemispheres", it contains solid tracks that are very easy to listen to and are quite enjoyable. The biggest highlight is "Working Man". Neil Peart's presence would've done wonders for "Rush", but Rush's debut album is still very good.

Xutos e Pontapes Cerco
Xutos e Pontapes' second album Cerco, released in 1985, shows some great improvement over the band's debut album called 78/82. While the first album showed the band experimenting with their style and influences, Cerco showed that Xutos were more aware of what sound they wanted to incorporate into their music. The introduction of saxophonist Gui and lead guitarist Joao Cabeleira to the band helped define the sound that made Xutos e Pontapes famous. Cerco is by no means a perfect album but it shows improvement and it contains some very good material, including Xutos' classic song Homem do Leme. Recommended Tracks: Barcos Gregos; Homem do Leme; Conta-me Historias.

Xutos e Pontapes 78/82
Xutos e Pontapes is considered one of Portugal's best and most influential rock bands of all time. Extremely well known in Portugal, Xutos also made some moderate success in Spain, France, United Kingdom and Germany. However, their debut album, 78/82, doesn't do the band much justice. Still trying to find their musical direction, the band experimented with lots of different approaches to their sound, and the result turned out uninspired and confusing. Influenced mostly by Van Halen and Aerosmith, 78/82 presents some decent but not outstanding tracks and a lot of filler too. Xutos could and would do better in the future. Recommended Tracks: Quero-te; Toca e Foge; Quero Mais.
