King Crimson
In the Wake of Poseidon
A really impressive record, shows great musicianship and virtuosity, a solid album in the King Crimson catalogue. Pictures of a City and In the Wake of Poseidon are great, and Cat Food is one of my favourite King Crimson songs.

Pixies
Surfer Rosa
This would be the greatest album ever if it wasn't for two or three tracks towards the end. It's still amazing though.

Pixies
Doolittle
Simple, yet elegant and ingenious. A timeless album that influenced much of grunge, alternative and pop in the 90s.

Muse
Origin of Symmetry
For the most part, extraordinary stuff. Amazing performances (even by Dom Howard, who rarely impresses me in their discography), bizarre solos, bold and heavy riffs and great lyrics (for Muse standards).

Muse
Absolution
Metal-influenced alternative rock that shoots for the stars, and mostly delivers. Absolution features powerful riffs, pompous pianos and teary strings. The biggest drawback is the length of some of the more somber tracks. Strongest Points: Time Is Running Out, Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist. Weakest Points: Blackout, Falling Away With You.

Black Holes & Revelations
Here's where Muse started going downhill, this is the first Muse record that desperately tries to sound more grandiose and epic than it needed. The album features a handful of decent songs (Starlight, Supermassive Black Hole, Soldier's Poem, Assassin and City of Delusion), some that are only interesting from a compositional standpoint (Knights of Cydonia, Take a Bow), and some that are just banal, uninteresting and tiring (Map of the Problematique, Invincible and Hoodoo).

Oasis
(What's the Story) Morning Glory?
This album features Beatles-influenced (or more than influenced) songwriting, pointless interludes and at moments nonsensical blather as lyrics. That doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Strongest Points: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova. Weakest Points: She's Electric, Roll With It, Untitled (Track 6), Untitled (Track 11).
