  • RoundOnEndHiInMiddle i've had a similar experience when it comes to pop music. a couple of years ago when i tended to be less outgoing and sociable i thought anything the radio played was stupid and that my own taste was "sophisticated" and bull like that. now i've come to appreciate pop a lot more now that i've been having an actual social life. the point isn't to be "deep" or "thought-provoking" but rather to just have some fun. no one at a party wants to hear how aesop rock puts what they listen to to shame.

  • RoundOnEndHiInMiddle agreed, relatability is what it boils down to. especially since that style relies pretty hard on relatability in the first place. it's interesting how our own life experiences and personalities affect the way we listen to music in general.
