Spineshank weren't ready yet, but Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory donut-wrangler), fancying himself a talent scout, decided to give the boys a big push. Roadrunner signed them, and shortly after came their Strictly Diesel debut. Hampered by flat production, Spineshank never really get the machine started here, ticking over on a bunch of sub-Deftones riffs that don't really engage the listener at all. Jonny Santos turns in a capable vocal performance that is somewhat muted by the bog-standard production, but it is not enough to save a boring album from an underdeveloped band.

Ehh, I don't care for this album too much. "Intake" is a good track, and this band were very promising here, but overall just has a highly forgettable debut album. I think "Self Destructive Pattern" is better.

Strictly Diesel is the debut album by Industrial/Nu-Metal band Spineshank, and it features
some of their best material and also some of their worst. The band's mix of hardcore, metal,
and industrial sounds work to their advantage on songs such as 40 Below, Grey, and Intake.
Then you have some songs like 28 and Mend which offer nothing. The former is just an overall
bland song, while the latter is just a bunch of whispering and a boring chorus. Overall not
a terrible album but the band went on to create much better material.

I also think this is the best album they've released. I listened to it extensively when playing the first Duke Nukem game on the PS. Ahhh memories.

Spineshank's first album '' strictly Diesel '' dosen't really represents what the band is able to make and isn't really representative of their other work. Too much eletronics, not enough musical showing, and all the songs sounds like the others. A bad debut for them i would say.

Didn't dig this that much. Best tracks are probably Detached and the surprisingly impressive cover of George Harrison's sacred While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Much prefer the following two albums, which kick some serious bee-hind.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The best songs are Grey, Where We Fall, Stovebolt, Detached, While My Guitar Gently Weeps (The Beatles)... I think this is the best album Spineshank ever made.
