I've been a big Rest fan ever since the release of their 2012 album, Rest. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Rest where Tanner Weed's presence became more apparent. I think Rest is the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Tanner Weed. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Untitled IV. In this song, Tanner Weed addresses the problems of abusive political authority. Untitled III is the most moving powerviolence song of the 2010s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in grindcore. Rest's career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like Untitled II and Untitled VII. I think Tanner Weed works best within the confines of the group, as demonstrated in the song Untitled VI.

I know these guys and jesus they're good. I know from the sound of the recording that it may seem like they're shit, but give them a chance. I came here because they posted a status on their facebook page saying they were getting haters and it doesn't make sense to me. They can be a little harsh, but come on people.

The constant hate on this astounds me. I picked this up from the dude who runs the label that they released this through in the UK. I happen to live in the same area as him and he gave me a box of tapes for 15 bucks. This was one of them. Pretty good by my standards, but I listen to a lot of harsh noise so I could hear through it pretty good.

For crying out loud, I am SICK of seeing people hate on Rest just because they are doing
what they've always wanted to do and are living their dreams right now. You're all just
jealous, and if their sound isn't for everyone, just go and listen to some legitimate grind

The way it's made is the only thing intriguing about this album, and that alone is enough to give it a listen. The awful quality gives it a sound not many other albums have, and you start feeling thankful for that after listening to this one.
