While the first two tracks made this EP start off promising, the rest of it proved to be another rap release that's production way upends the actual rapping. With great production from big time names (flying lotus, the alchemist), Hodgy's flawed flow and uninteresting topic choices really prevented this from being anything more than just an okay release.
Usually my least favorite rapper from the OF collective but this was a nice surprise. Usually his rapping is just literally finding random words to say to rhyme so he looks like he has dense rhyme schemes and has some of the corniest, most generic stuff you can imagine but there's always been some potential. But here he's really matured, his lyrics are clever and cohesive and touch a lot of subjects nicely. Great beat selection from legends like Juicy J, FlyLo and Alchemist, too. Best part is how concise it is. Sometimes it feels like all of the songs sound the same, though and his flow can be too awkward at times.
