Iggy Pop's debut was a purely futuristic piece of music, while his sophomore effort was more stripped down and rock-oriented, and now we have New Values. This basically be described as a bit of a bridge between the two, with riffs from former Stooges guitarist James Williamson being present, giving the album and almost bluesy vibe, similar to his last effort. But, there are still some odd sound effects and danceable grooves present to give it a bit of the feel of The Idiot. Overall, a very cohesive effort, as well as an interesting point for Iggy.
