I have no idea what ran through the minds of the members of Celtic Frost when they created this steaming pile, an essential 180 in regards to anything they had ever done in the past. There's a reason essentially everyone hates this album: Pure, unadulterated hatred is the only reaction Cold Lake deserves. Celtic Frost tried their hand at 80s style glam metal. I've yet to see a single artist pull of such a formula successfully.
A sad attempt to achieve mainstream popularity. But think about it, how could a band named CELTIC FROST ever become popular anyway? Unless they changed their name to Celtic Snake or Celtic Lion, or Frost Snake, they'd never be popular.
