Was kind of surprised by the lack of Odd Future-style fuzzy synth, but it was a nice
surprise. Very Nujabes-inspired jazz, Domo's improved ridiculous amounts on the mic. He
actually knows how to flow well and he has chuckle-worthy lines, and obviously he has the
laid-back demeanor necessary in a stoner hip-hop album. The tracks do kind of run together
sometimes and it can kind of get boring at times, but very much worth a listen. I will say I
reeeeally prefer the "Rolling Papers" beats, because while they were super catchy and more
"experimental", these sound like the beats that every jazz rapper and their grandma try and
use, though they are pretty and groovy at times. Smokemon is not a funny sketch, though.
It's just the typical fourteen year-old "let's sing about weed
to the tune of x song", which I guess I would've found hilarious if I was in middle school
and stoned. Which, luckily enough for Odd Future, is the majority of their fanbase.
Wow this rules, I think this is a big step up from Rolling Papers. Just when I thought the Odd Future was fading out a bit, Domo releases this little gem.
the beats are the best things on this album by far. unlike rolling papers, tyler's one appearance on this album sucks ass, and he makes it all about him and goblin and the worldwide tour, until he shows he knows that he whines too much about that shit too much. fortunately, domo's rapping rules on the majority of the songs. fuck the skits, they suck.
I found this to be a really chilled out album much like Rolling Papers. I didn't find it out of this world or anything, but it is definitely what i expected from Domo.
