Bizarre how an album with such awesome interludes and an amazing middle ("Schiphol", "Atackla") could leave me feeling...a bit unsatisfied. Perhaps it's that old adage about people remembering the beginnings and endings of things the best. While neither track is outright bad by any stretch, "309" gets lost in its own loudness and "Praise Be Man" simply doesn't have the grab of "Hexed All" or some of their other quieter tracks.
Regardless, a good effort and admirable attempt to integrate their louder and softer halves.

Excellent (mostly) instrumental metal release. The production is nicely gritty which suits the music well. The first four songs are fantastic-- well-constructed, with a plethora of engaging riffs and melodies. "Batu" loses me somewhat-- it's not as interesting as the tracks before it-- and closer "Praise Be Man", while nice, doesn't totally satisfy. Still, this is an absolutely excellent record.

I for one cannot understand where all the love is coming from for this slightly above mediocre prog band. I definitely hear the potential there, but with each song I feel let down... let down that they didn't realize all the potential packed in those few minutes. This could have easily gone over much better than it did... 3.1/5
