3.0 good | Deuce8311 | June 18th 12 | The originality that was shown in their debut is virtually gone on their sophmore effort. That being said, Post Mortem is not a bad record at all. Most will curse it immediately just for it's mainstream and commercial appeal, but it should be given a chance. The album is still riddled with some good lyrics and catchy choruses. The opening track features Matt Tuck from BFMV and is nothing amazing like it could have been, but still is very enjoyable. The third single "That Fire" is in my opinion the best song on the alum, as I find myself always singing along to the very catchy chorus. Black Tide seem to have grown up a little bit, but by sacrificing the sound we all fell in love with from the beginning. It'll be interesting to see what they do next.

3.5 great | Project | November 19th 11 | It's not complex or substantial in any way (minus some impressive guitar and vocal work), but it's got a lot of energy, and it's a fun listen. Hooks are huge, and production is fantastic. If you're looking for complexity, look away fast, but if you want some good, simple, bombastic metal, check this out. Recommended tracks: That Fire, Honest Eyes, Lost In The Sound

2.0 poor | Jared Floryan | September 3rd 14 | What. Went. Wrong!? Granted, Black Tide was a type of metal act I wasn't expecting to be revolutionary nor creative nor anything special really. It goes like this, boys and girls... Back in 2008, four boys released their debut full-length album Light From Above. Whilst lacking in ideas and some laughable lyricism which would suit any metalcore or screamo act, this was also a CD which showed a band with that fire in their honest eyes, thereby being mostly passable. Post Mortem, on the other end of the spectrum? {sigh} The bandmates did all they could to fight 'til the bitter end and make it into the sky. Alas, Black Tide wasn't successful. They decided to take it easy this time around, but ended up getting lost in the sound; the Miami-based heavy metal outfit transformed into quite a 'walking dead man' of their former selves, now in the shape of ashes begging and pleading, "Bury me!" In summary, Black Tide's sophomore release has the occasional good song (i.e. "Honest Eyes") - helped somewhat by Gabriel Garcia's refined vocals here - though nothing else will go noted for Post Mortem.

2.0 poor | theat001 | August 28th 11 | Lyrically bad...See Bury Me...seriously... rTo me, it's just a copy of bands they like. It's like...Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine (who's singer appears on the album) had a illegitimate love child...with only a TINY bit of their own flair thrown in...rLike someone said, it's commercial, so it'll probably sell well enough, but they're not trying to be anything outstanding. I guess in that sense, they're achieving the goals they're setting out to...they just won't last too much longer if they don't start standing out more.

3.0 good | Exodus287 | August 25th 11 | This album is extremely commercial. If you enjoy your metal with a ridiculous amount of hooks then you may just bother to give this record a spin. Just try Fight Til The Bitter End and you will understand what I mean. Not bad but nothing all too interesting at the same.
