This album is amazing. It brings the sounds of all Cold albums together plus a new dimension as well. Thank you Cold for the new album. By the way, I noticed that the new song Wicked World is #20 on the Billboard already.
I really didn't want to rate this album so low but it's just plain boring. I though BigHans was being a douche when he rated the album low and I listened to this after I read his review just to prove him wrong. I just knew that there was no way that the band I loved in High school could make an average album, but they did. Almost every son on here is BORING. Wicked World starts the album off on a good note but no other song has any of the emotion that Wicked World has. I was hoping this album would have the same energy and emotion that A Different Kind of Pain had but this is such a disappointment. I still love Cold and I will listen to this album more to see if it grows on me but as of right now I don't see that album. Hopefully Cold can survive this album and make a much better album in the future.
The thing about Superfiction is that it's basically as bland and neutered as A Different Kind of Pain and doesn't even have the few standout songs that its predecessor boasted. Like any Cold record post-Balsamo and Hayes, Superfiction is full of slow, plodding ballads and really has no semblance of flow--you can really hear the five years that passed between the two releases. Still, fans can take solace in the fact that the songs the band released as teasers more or less make up the weakest part of the album. Superfiction has a handful of quality tracks, a small but noticeable infusion of creativity and is probably the best anyone could have expected from Scooter Ward and his band of merry men at this point in their careers.
